Got outselves a Taurus .45 1911. I shot it for the first time today :rock
Shoots very nice, but I have a few questions:
1. Is there a way you can adjust the pistol sight were it'll shoot on the money on open sighted? It was shooting low and to the left...
2. Can you get like a laser sight (kinda like a laser pointer) for a 1911? My dad has bad eye sight, so it's hard for him to shoot it.
Thanks! and it's a beaut!

i have a taurus mill. 9mm....ditto on the poop.
but i do like my Rock Island Armory 1911.
1Plus, are you left handed?? if so you may be "jerking" the trigger.
NOT

2 lazers for u, personaly I'll get the second one has I like the wood grip on my 1911 and it doesn't "deface it", but it's more pricey.
Crimson Trace, with on/off on the grip itself, front or back depending, turns on when u hold ur gun.

Lazermax, with the on/off on the stop slide.

Both concepts are awsome for carrying in a holster.

Ohh okay. I shoot right handed, so it's alright. Went through about 50 rounds, but it definitely shoots low. We've established that. We rested it on a rifle rack and it shot low.
My dad tried to shoot it, and it's not whether or not he actually CAN shoot it, it's just he can't see very well. It's the fine point where it screws his vision up the most, and he can't have it up close to him like a rifle.
:salute

You can also get a laser sight that screws onto the trigger guard. Easy to install, but prone to getting bumped out of alignment. I'd go with the Lazermax.

I just got a Smith and Wesson .45 model 745.
It shoots great.

The lasermax is a great sight, but its expensive- over $300. I'd suggest getting it isntalled and calibrated by an experienced gunsmith, but its defnitely worth it.

Before you adjust the sights, make sure you are not jerking the trigger. Low and left is very common for new shooters who don't realize they are flinching or jerking the trigger. Put it on some type of rest and smoothly pull the trigger back to see where it's really hitting. Trigger control is everything. Oh, and congrats on the new pistol!

Thanks for the advice, we're gonna be shooting it again this weekend (I was suprised how fast 50 rounds went by :lol).
I'll update it if that is the issue.

Yeah umm you ever stop to consider the wisdom in letting a guy with bad vision shoot?

No, like when it comes to rifles opensighted, he shoots just fine, and can see perfectly. He's only shot it once, and I've shot it once. So this is kind of recent.
Edit: It also has to do with shooting pistols themselves, but that's the reason in getting the laser dot sight, so he can see just fine and still shoot.
