I figure the only way to have early war planes fighting in a competitive environment would be to have a seperate "early war arena".
What I want to know is; who would be interested in flying in such an arena often, and also, which planes should be in an "early war arena" ?
IMO...
The top end would be planes like the Bf 109E-4, P-40B, Yak-1, Spitfire Mk I etc.
Later fighters that were low on performance would be allowed too, eg: CA-12 Boomerang, FM-2 etc.
At the bottom end would be the biplane and early monoplane fighters, eg: CR.42, Gladiator, I-153, I-16, Ki-27, P-36, G.50 etc.

Sorry since when is Yak-1 a early war plane?...it was introduced in late '41 and was in full swing in 1942...Just as the C205, for example...not so eary one. A russian early plane could be the MiG-3, the LaGG-3, or the I-16 and I-15 series...but not that Yak.
If as early plane you understand a 1939-1940 one...of course the Me-109E4, the best fighter of its time.
And a D-520 would be cool,too. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
[edit]Lets see how many time goes by before the Finnish lobby come here and start screaming....BREWSTER BUFFALO!!!!

RAM:
Yak-1 was in production during almost four years: from September 1940 until July 1944.
Just for that, you get downgraded to a Bf 109B! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

LOL Juzz...yes production time was from 1940..but until 1942 wasnt in full swing. And very few Yak1s were present in Barbarossa...
SO I go up to the E4 again (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) eheheh

Ahh, but you obviously didn't read this bit...
Later fighters that were low on performance would be allowed too
So you go back to a Bf 109B again, but on the plus side you get a cool "shark's mouth" paintjob on your Messerschmitt. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

<scream>BREWSTER BUFFALO!</scream>
And don't forget Fokker D.21, Fiat G.50, Morane Saulnier 406, Curtiss Hawk 75 or any other planes used on the finnish front. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Thats early early early war. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
But not thanks. Not my style.
If it was built before 1942, I'm not really very interested.

RAM,
you mean the C.202, right? She became operational during mid-late 1941. Before that italian units used the C.200 (slightly better than the G.50), the G.50 and the biplane CR42.
The C.205 was delivered to fighting units during early-mid 1943 and fought till the end of the war.
Anyway, nice posting exercise but I'm afraid that early war is only a dream.
-
Cc gatt was a typo. I meant C202 of course, the plane started its production run in 1941 and was in full swing in 1942...
(I suspect I have some kind of nerve problems with that C205...each time I see one I feel my nerves collapsing (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif))

Well... I am Mericun !! (hillbilly for American) And damn proud of it!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
But no I consider 1942 to be "midwar", which was my point that I like midwar and later aircraft.
I usually think of "early war" as 1941 and earlier.
But when you start talking Bf109B's, Fokker's, and Curtis Hawks, your talking Spanish Civil War (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Not early war.

Looks like there are more early warplanes never been done then late/uberwarplanes never been done (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Bee out
PS: I want a RPS

Give us an early war arena or just these birds.
If an early arena will be added i will fly 75% of my time there.
I hope to have a full era planes in MA anyway.
PS: Asso di Bastoni salute you RAM (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

FYI
I would frequent early war planes and arenas.

Don't forget P.11C!!!

Seriously, I hope they finish the late-war set. We are still sadly short of bombers and attack planes.

I was thinking long-term, since I don't think HTC are going to add a RPS.
Hmmm... I got another thread idea now. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

My choice would be I-16, the most numerous VVS fighter in 1941. And yes, I would fly in such an arena.
BTW, for those interested, the most numerous/produced VVS fighters by year,- 1941 - I-16
- 1942 - LaGG-3
- 1943-45 - Yak-9D/DD/T/M/K/U/UT, etc.
