Post by: TheZohan on March 05, 2009, 04:31:46 AM

This one is the best wish you've dealt on this page.   :D

I like this request, it makes a lot of sense and if it were to be added just think of the possibilities we'd have in scenarios!   :aok

Its a good thing the sea isnt rough in AH, so this thing might actually make land ;)

Hello TheZohan,

Could you clarify this wish a bit more.  I am not quite sure what you are wishing for specifically.

the M-4 DD? it was the tank that was used for amphib landings on D Day to storm the shores of Normandy

CC.  Thank you Zohan.

I would have no problem agreeing to it's addition to the inventory.

Sure I say..., as long as you consider that the current model sherman couldnt be landed in this way as its barrel is much to long. :)

Here we go! I love these forums, they just keep getting better and better sometimes. Everyone agrees with this idea and its suddenly bombarded by nukes, what a coincidence.

By the way, yes, most sank because of the waves, unfortunately we don't have waves in AH, so the tank should be much less prone to leaning and sinking.

How do you justify the addition of a new GV of this type, When  considering the addition of a new Plane it all come down to the amount that were produced. All I'm asking is how many were produced and did they make a positive contribution to the war?

I'm neither agreeing with this wish or disagreeing. Its called being neutral. But i see your point quite clearly.

They were only used three times and did serve in "squadron" strength but you could also almost argue that they were field mods as well.

Once they get out of the water the whole DD concept is moot anyhow.

I'm sure the guys storming the beach would disagree with you.

I'm saying, once it's on the beach it's a normal tank.  Flotation devices and propellers are superfluous.

Ah yes, the rolling waves.  Am I reading that some believe it shouldnt be added due to the lack of waves?  Well, no other sea faring vessle has to worry about so why should the DD?  For that matter, aircraft dont have to worry about wind or rain.  Tanks dont have to wrry about cross winds when firing... so...  the point is moot I would think.

Yayy a swimming tank that can be killed by .30 fire.  Well before it reaches the shore anyway.

well if you want reality .. alot  of The Tigers has broke down before even seeing combat.. so i think the DD would do just fine in AH2

Depth would have to be modeled.  And we know there is a definite lack of depth already.

Put me on the beach with an m8 and watch me blow the water... Just make a splash next to it and watch it submerge below the waves like a U-Boat.

Except for Omaha Beach, the answer is NO.

Wiki is good enough for some light research on the topic.
