Title: cv rate/accuracy of AA fire
Post by: pxdig on March 08, 2009, 12:52:36 PM
while playing yesterday, an enemy CV got me twice at over 17k  and what I considered to be a long distance from the actual CV.  Is it just me or is the rate and accuracy of anti-aircraft fire from the task groups way good.  I am not talking about buzzing their flight deck, I am talking about being up there in altitiude and distance...

I guess you haven't seen the thousands of threads complaining about CV puffy ack.

yes, I was in a fighter.  If I am wrong and the cv fire is the same as always, then please let me know.  It just seems A LOT heavier...

Is the same as always. Nothing has changed for a long time... and the last change to it was actually tuning it down.

Some days it just isn't your day ! I very rarely get hit by CV ack, of course I don't dive into it either.

He's talking about puffy ack (5").

Didn't they turn it up in 2.12 and then turn it back down in the next patch?

They changed something and the ack got even more lethal.. This after lots and lots of player requests for a change.  So players complained even more (me one of the most), and it got nerfed once again.

If I remember right they made the puffy less lethal but made the area each puff effects larger.  Thats if I remember right.  There are days I fly AFK over a cv and don't take damage and days I don't get that close and get shot down.  Hard to say...i just shrug my shoulders and say "that's aces high"

I remember those days. Glad the ack isn't as accurate now as it was back then

Exactly. Was quite unreal, you really couldn't get anywhere near a CV for that short time.

The manned 5" guns are also very easy to aim.  I'm pathetic with a 37mm field gun but I can kill like crazy with those proximity fuses.

Yes, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
