Title: Map Question

The question has come up so I will ask it here as an FYI for those that are interested.

My understanding is that a map sector equals 25 miles squared. But no matter what the difference is, the question is "is that statue miles of nautical miles?" The other question to ask then is "is IAS shown in MPH or Knots"?

thank you much! BTW, is the 25 mile square sector correct, and is it standard to all maps?
