Title: Interesting Shootdown
Post by: HellFire on March 13, 2009, 11:18:12 PM
In the midst of my practise, practise & more practise, whilst playing Baumer's Off-
line mission "Daddog's Dilemma", 4 P38-Js vs 4 Ki-84s, I manned a P38, & I must
admit that I improved in staying alive  as I shot down ALL 4 enemy planes ( my SA
is improving).

Flying back to base I encountered tracer fire from my 6, taking evasive action, & once again checking my 6 & all around the aircraft, I couldn't see any bogies, except a cple of friendlies.    :O  Who's shooting at me & from where?

My plane was again engulfed by tracer fire & I was shot down, now there's a connundrum, no enemies in sight over land, sea or air!?

Fortunately, I film all of my training flights, I replayed my flight in External View & discovered I was shot down by fire from the ocean with no boats (PT or otherwise) around!   Lesson learned never fly unwarily or in a straight line after, during & in combat.

Good show Baumer, don't know how u managed to program that sub? in but it
makes for an interesting set of unexpected circumstances.   :salute

Probably got caught by the 5 inch flack guns on a carrier that was just out of sight.

There are no tracers from flack.

All 4 enemies bagged, no CV in sight...

This is very interesting indeed  :huh

If the manned 5" gun is using flak rounds, you can actually see the smoke trail.  while not exactly a tracer round, the smoke trail does allow you to track the round as it comes at you.

This happens to me every now and then. I have even posted it with film in the Offline Missions forum as well with no response back on what it could be.

I had this occasionally when I made missions, but I never worked out why either.

It's a bug in the majority of missions I've played. It gets annoying. But not nearly as much as the timer that ends the fight automatically and transports you to your landing pattern regardless of if the fight is over or not. I wish that would get fixed.

THAT i wish i could fix......i tend to play with my food before i eat it, and the fight ends while i'm playing.

the only way to fix that is to not have any end warps to the missions. You can accomplish this in the ME though by just taking the warp out at the end and replace it with an attack in the segment.

I too hate it when that happens, especially when playing the 4vs1 mission and I am just about to kill the last one, have him lined up, and puff he is gone and a few seconds later I am warped back to my field. Oh well if it bothered me that much I would just take the less than5 mintues it takes to remove the last warp out of the segments.
