Hard to say if they are actually 'headshots' but the easiest way to take down bombers is to shoot the pilot. I actually killed three bombers in one pass before the auto film feature was given to us but up until now I have not repeated it. In this very brief film only three of my guns even connect with the second bomber but the job gets done. :aok

Nice shots!
Headshots are best for quick bomber-kills, but are they the most effective?
Closure rate is pretty fast, and especially if you want to hit all 3 bombers, it's a difficult position!

From the rear as I did in this film is not practical for all bombers but shooting the pilot is the best way to both conserve ammo and take them down quickly. My normal approach takes patience and much more time but if the bomber pilot is busy lining up to drop his bombs a headshot can send him to the tower with his thumb still above the secondary button. :D

Well, I do like coming from a high 1 or 11 shot, but I always have trouble getting back where I was for another pass. When I run into buffs I'm usually in an F4U or Mossie. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong or something, but after I attack, I pull up and over to get ahead of them for the next shot. This takes about 5 minutes to get into the position I was before though. Are there better ways of attacking?

The best way is to already be far above them before you start so you have the E to get back out in front and above. If you attack the bombers (as you say from high 11 or 1 oc) right hand drone (from his perspective) you just pass under and grab back out in front being careful to stay out of his gunfire. The tough bombers like Ki67s B17s and B26s I wont go near above 14k because they are so fast or have strong hit potential and any bomber above 20k is going to be very hard because of their speed and agility in air so thin most fighters have a tough time anyway.
From the other end of the stick I have had Spit IXs attack my B24s at 30k but always from behind and they are always easy to deal with. 109K4s and 152s are the hardest to get rid of without suffering a loss or two and a 262 at that altitude is just target practice. :aok
