Mom's computer keyboard will not work sometimes. I checked the connection and it seemed okay but I unplugged it and then plugged it back in. I told here to get with me again if it acted up. Usually when a keyboard is not plugged in the system gives you an error. So I'm not totally sure if that is the reason.
I checked the memory and resource usage. It's all looking good. Ran the AV and no bad things on it. Then ran Glary Utilities and fixed some registry errors.
The Setup: The keyboard is an USB plugged into a ps2 adatpter. I cannot remember the board ID but it is a Gigabyte board using an e2200 chip.
The Symptoms: You can scroll with the mouse until you you click on start. After clicking on start you cannon advance the mouse past programs. You of course cannot use the keyboard.
My next step is to plug directly into the usb port. After that maybe a new keyboard. That keyboard is a 9 year old Dell KB.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

New Keyboard fixed the issue. How about that.
Yes this old, sorry.

New fixes a lot. But if new will last is another story.
Sweet to hear about a keyboard that lasted so long.

Well, I was so very happy to get it fixed. Mom relies on me for her computer issues. Daily I might add. Also found an old set of speakers around here to replace the crappy $5 set she had. She's a very happy camper these days.
