Title: A few questions on the DA.
Post by: TexMurphy on March 20, 2009, 07:21:52 AM
Hey guys,

Ive really been enjoying my time back and last night I thought I would do a training session in the DA. I was in for quite a supprice. The game in the MA hasnt really changed that much, if at all then its for the better because I do actually find it easier to find good fights now then I did 2 years ago. But man has the DA changed.

Back when I last flew the DA was a place where 1v1 fights where beeing fought. It was a place for duels, imho that makes sence. Unfortuantly some time before I took my break HTC changed turned off friendly fire which made it a bit harder to setup the fights since you couldnt do the "check six for duel confirmed by a check six" routine. But still it was a place where one could duel.

Now Im not sure if it was just last night but now it was just another furball. There was just a free for all with eveyone engaging. There was cherry picking. There was vulching. There was high allt BnZers. There was a furball with all the elements (for good and bad) of a MA furball.

I asked over 200 if someone wanted to go to another field for a few 1v1s but no one responded.

So Im wondering if this is how the DA is these days, basicly a mini MA, or if it was just last night.

Even though I enjoy the old style DA better I dont mind if it has changed, its the nature of things. I just want to know what to expect.

Tex

the furball lake = a kindergarten for the bottom feeders,

Some of the longer term players are usually available for private 1 vs 1's at the other bases,  we use those for practice.

i saw you in there tex, but left before you asked for a fight. Was dueling my friend rud3boi at A17-A18. Sure the DA has a mini furball lake that seems like an MA clone, but the 1v1 fights are still plentifull. If you have not already, put your name in this thread:

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,260121.0.html

And dont stop asking for 1 on 1. Often i go there and get no reply, so i go to Midwar and latewar and ask again, usualy someone either a squaddy or random friend will take up the offer.

Just think of the DA as a dueling arena, like the past DA, but now it has extra features, a furball lake.

Yup Furball lake is the "kiddie pool now. All those who can't make it in the MAs hide in there and just gang the crap out of anyone that comes in. They even land their kills in there to see their name in lights  :rofl

IF you cant go to furball lake and get 10 kills, yet still feel the need to complain about the gameplay in there......there is a chance you're just not up to the challenge of a real old style catagory 5 furball.  :t

not directed at you Fugi, just a comment in general.

Personally i say the MA is far easier and less skilled in general than furball lake.

Thanks for the info guys. It makes sence now because I really thought I was missing something.

I dont mind kiddie pools at all because they tend to fill a purpouse.

Now I know how it works.

Thanks
Tex

I got a laugh last night. Everyone who landed no more than two kills in a Tempest, 4-Hog, Charlie, Spixteen or some other uber-ride got a pat on the back. I came home with three in a P-40E, and got nothing.

Furball lake in DA is a hypercrack version of MA. Personally I find I get to isolate more good fights in the MA than in Furball lake.
One thing you can't do in MA which you can in DA is when someone starts whining you can take em to a field for some dark moments  :devil.

Murphy if you need any 1v1s you can ask anyone on vent. We all go in n out of DA :]

Yes. The DA is like this:
Up a 47...fly to 6K wait for Vis on a con: multiple cons inbd to you. they are :
Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit P-51 Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit Spit

"Ohhhhhhh" you think "I will engage the P-51!" Then Out of nowhere you Get HOed by A spit.  :huh
"I337 shot you down"
"You Have Crahed"
I337: Lol noob Can't think fast enough to do Any maneuver mah Uber spiz chan!
Even I am Amazed at The Immaturity Of the people in the DA.
I just go there to Pick off the Spits in my 47.
BTW if your Way too stressed about the game try this : http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,244204.0.html (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,244204.0.html)

Everyone has described it pretty well. Just ignore furball lake, and sometimes you'll find some good folks willing to 1v1.

i must disagree with the majority here.
furball lake can be good fun and a decent place to practice SA and furballing, as said above its a small sclae MA furball.
if you accept that fact you can have fun in there, if you want to dual, just change to a different field.

good to see you too knite <S> :)

True, but at the same time, the lake has become the identity of the dueling arena, which is a sad thing.

Youd have better fun and SA/furballing practice without the anti gameplay pickers and gangers.

Tex, most of the people in the DA use channel 1 instead of 200. Had a nice fight in a 109e vs a yak yesterday. Seems to me if you can avoid the spit, spit, tempy, 4hog crowd, you can have a good fight. I think it was Batfink and another guy were in mossy's and were giving good fights. Just make sure you tell your country mates to back off if you're in a good fight. The ganging knows no country boundaries.

LivrLips you were flying like a demon in that 109E, i think in the end traz31st stole your kill on me in his tempest.

Sometimes you can find good fights on the fringes.  109G14 v P-39Q.  Even had a guy in a Spit wait until we were finished.  Two good fights in a row.

Funniest thing I've seen in there in a while was Skyrock in an F4U-1 calling people out of the hord and killing them.  "Come down here Spit16."
Very impressive actually.  He had school in session.

There are some diamonds in the rough in there.  Just lots of slag to wade through first most of the time.

If you go in later in the evening when the numbers aren't so high it can be fun. My problem is with the lame morons who are so desparate for a kill all they do is hang around in ponies and Tempests and pick. I'm currently trying to learn how to use rudder pedals after years of a twisty stick. It aint easy so I'm upping random rides just for practice. I swear you could eliminate the whole plane set save spixteens, Chogs, 51s and Tempies and no one would notice. They play like it's for score in there. Need to turn of the kills landed messages. It'd also be neat if you could have a daily perk amount assigned. Then when they use up all their uber picker ride perks, they'd be forced to go home. I to remember the days when you could be engaged in a 1v1 and everyone would fly past and leave you alone. Not a chance in hell anymore.

It can be frustrating but it can be fun too.  U just have to hang around a bit, see who is on, maybe get into a good scrap or two then PM them to meet you on the fringe or at a base.  I have had some great times doing just that in there.  Most recent was with Wrongway just yesterday.  Good fun.  It is different than it used to be but it is like fishing in a new spot, the way u fished in your old honey hole may not work in your new honey hole, but that doesn't mean the fish ain't there.

And SkyRock, I didn't HO u, I left the bullets in their casings, packed neatly in my wings and flew them into your face.... :noid

Oh yes the Lake is very.......kiddie. Everyone flies Tempests and Spits and picks everyone else. The domination of 2 mega squads in the DA has lead to horde and gangbanging. But most of the time there is a good 1v1 waiting.  :aok

Maybe HTC should make another arena like the old DA was with Friendly fired allowed which means no kill shooter.
if anyone complains tell them they can go to the New DA.
That's just my opinion though.
