Title: Probably useless, but....
Post by: flakbait on February 21, 2001, 12:58:00 PM
For the technical nuts among us here's what one horsepower actually means:

One horsepower = 550 ft-lbs/sec

So an engine that develops 2,000 horsepower is doing about 110,000 ft-lbs/sec of work. Gives you a whole new appreciation of horses, don't it?

I like sheep more  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Is there a sheeppower measurement? I'd love to see it

Our largest technical-magazine made a decision to drop horsepowers from their charts and start using only kilowatts. In last issue they still used HP's they checked how much power a Finnish-Horse (Local work-horse) can give out. If remember right the answer was something like 25 or 26HPs in short time  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Here's a good explanation of the horsepower:
