AvA Thursday Night Blitzkrieg 1940-1945
The AvA Blitzkrieg will be a weekly event that begins at 8:00pm CST(9:00pm EST) on Thursday. The event will consist of two rounds with each round lasting for one hour, for a total of two hours. The rounds will have an axis vs allied setup based on service date and will include both GV's and planes. Round 1 will be 1940-41, round 2 will be 1941-42, round 3 will be 1942-43, round 4 will be 1943-44, and round 5 will be 1944-45. The plane selection list for each round is listed in the axis and allied private forums. The first week will begin with rounds 1 and 2, the following week will be rounds 3 and 4, the third week will be round 5. At the end of each round, the number of fields captured will be counted for each side. A captured field must be in possession at the end of the round, otherwise it will not be counted. Points will be assigned for each field captured based on its size and difficulty. The side with the most points at the end of the round is awarded that round. The fields captured will be marked as the new start point for the beginning of the next round. The field capture count will be reset back to zero at the start of a new round. New planes will be added for each round according to the setup table listed for that round. The war ends at 10:00pm CST(11:00pm EST).... The first side to take 3 rounds will be declared the victor. If 3 rounds are won before the fourth round the fourth and fifth round will not be played..

do we have to register or anything, or is it just a free for all?? pick a side of our choosing and go for it?? also is it necessary to belong to one of the 2 private forums?
-
do we have to register or anything,
You do not need to register. walk ons at any time during the event are welcome
pick a side of our choosing and go for it?? ?
yep
also is it necessary to belong to one of the 2 private forums?
It is not required. The private forums will have additional information at times that will not be posted on the public forum. It is also a good place to discuss the event for those who wish to dedicate themselves to a particular side.

Side switching rule? :uhoh
Just my preference, if the sides were left open, so that squads may even them as in non events. :rock
Having a precise time frame to launch may just give us huge lopsided numbers otherwise. :O
Of course we might encounter a couple of griefers (folks who want to spy on base captures) :noid but for the most part, I believe folks will want to have some good competitive fun. :salute

A country swap time could be set in place, a CM will be present during the event to address any game play issues that might pop up.
The private forums has the plane selections available for each round, and also lists what points are awarded for each field on this weeks map.

Last night the Axis Zeke pilots in round 1 were tearing up the skies. :salute I truly enjoyed some nice fights and give a lot of credit to the JG54 for their participation. PotsNpans and 353rd members gave a good accounting for Allied forces, as well as B4Buster, Pangea and a number of others. Jaeger unveiled his secret weapon and Allies recovered film of his Stuka mounted with 37 mm cannon (just kidding). :t
In the second round the P39D was a good match for Axis forces. Ground forces advanced on Allied tank units in the south but were held back with air support. :noid
It was awesome to fly with Oldman and Soda. I hope they had as much fun as I did. Thanks for putting this together. Last night I spent 0 time in the MA.
GREric popped by and hopefully will return someday with squad in tow and more AvA events. :rock

If you are interested in seeing the actual plane/vehicle list used for each round you can request to be added to one of the two private forums that shows the listing. There is one for axis and another one for allies.
This coming Thursday will be rounds 3 & 4 which will span from 1942 through 1944.

:salute to those who participated last night...
Round 3 started slow at the beginning but began to pick up as as time went on. By the end of the round both sides had gave a good account of each other but in the end neither side was organized enough to seize any objectives, as a result Round 3 ended in a draw. The tide of battle would change in favor of the allies at the start of round 4. As Round 4 began the allies started to organize their efforts placing the axis on the defense. The allies kept the pressure up and was able to seize their first objective with 10 minutes left in the round. However seizing the object came at a price for the allies, as casualties rates for allied JABOS was quite high falling victim to axis fighters flying CAP.
