Title: Monitor
Post by: SKColt on March 27, 2009, 09:42:51 AM
I have been very happy with my Samsung 22 inch LCD for both gaming and "work". I have been looking at bigger displays and am interested in the Samsung T260 and the T260HD monitors. Anyone here bave one of those? Or care to venture an opinion?

Thanks!

I currently own a samsung syncmaster 226cw 22" with 2 ms response time and am very happy with it. The response times/refresh rates on those 2 monitors you listed are 5 ms which isn't all that great considering lcds/tfts are now up to 1ms = 120hz = ideal viewing for your eyes. A lot ofgamers are still using CRTs at 120hz in games as its the gold standard with a very noticeable smoothness increase with frames displaying perfectly..better fluidity in general.

My monitor runs at 60hz/2ms and has a viewing angle comparable to that of a CRT and very very wide color gamut, I've yet to experience ghosting or any image blur from it very likely due to the 2ms response time but with 5ms you COULD get those negative effects. I think you need a dual link DVI cable to achieve 120hz on any monitor that has a 1ms resposne time and beware as some lcds listed as 120hz arent really 120hz after all...they basically double up the 60hz.

I'm no expert at all on monitors particularly LCDs but i would defo hold onto my money in favour of a display with a lower response time.

I have 5ms its fine.

Thing to consider though is you need to run 1900x1200(native) anything above 22". make sure your PC can handle it.

u can run lower but it will be blurry.

I can not really see a difference between 2ms and 5ms. 8ms?? maybe....

My computer will have no issues with 1900X1200 using my GeForce 9800 GT.
