Honor is overrated, especially in a flippin video game. I am loyal to those in my squad and the friends I've made in this game. That's it. This whole notion of honor in a video game has never and will never make sense to me.
I will:
-Vulch you
-Chase u all the way back and get u while you're landing
-PM people about how much of a dweeb they are
-Taunt people about sucking
-Spawn camp
-Make fun of failed missions and the people responsible for them
-<S> a good fight

I have a habit of giving negative PM's to people in this game. Just part of my competitive nature. That's how I play video games. I'm a trash talker. Is it personal? No, not at all. Do people take it personal? Yes.
I do however, respect you INK. We've had some great fights. Same with Karaya. I consider you both allies. I even respect STEVE...of all people. I like Steve in the game, but Steve on the BBS (Both here and flamewarriors) is not my favorite person.

Give that a good look. Maybe you take things too personally?

Thats what I am saying bro, I know we have had some great fights and I always thought of you in a respectful way..
think about something
the only thing on your list I do, is the last one...

What's wrong with you not being my favorite person? I'm sure the feelings are mutual.

Ink....
I know...you're a great person. However, the gaming culture I come from is a place that takes no mercy. There is no such thing as being a good sport about it. I played Madden pretty religiously for about 4 years. The banter on that game can be very insulting. I've played countless games where I would either text or voice chat about how much of a tool the other guy is. He would do the same back. It was expected. That's all I know. My main goal, is not necessarily to make a ton of friends on this game. I play this game for entertainment...entertainment comes in various forms for me.
I love the squad I'm in and the friends I've made along the way.

Well, philosophical differences aside. I harbor no ill will for you. I know you don't see the humor in the screenie I post where you put your foot in your mouth. This tells me that you take yourself and or the game too seriously to be able to laugh at yourself.

I take very little offense to the screenie. It's good ammunition. And Yes, I do laugh at myself.

Perhaps this thread should be moved to the “Wishlist” forums… It provides an excellent example of why we need a ‘permanent squelch’ feature.

He is a troll. He gets his jollies on pissing people off and getting them to post in response. A rather lame part of internet forums.

I fly with no Honor how about you?
No.
“Honor isn't about making the right choices. It's about dealing with the consequences.”
“Rather fail with honor than succeed by fraud.”
“Fail to honor people, they fail to honor you; but of a good leader, who talks little, when his work is done, his aims fulfilled, they will all say, 'We did this ourselves.'”
“The most tragic thing in the world is a man of genius who is not a man of honor”

Indeed, it might be all that you know, and thus that you think it is acceptable is not entirely your fault. Its a degenerating, dying culture. We scour the gutter for our "art" and our values these days, what other result can we expect? I won't say we have devolved to the level of a savage with a bone in his nose...because in many ways, our American popular culture is *more* degenerate.
However, do not expect me to pat you on the back for failing to swim upstream against the tide of societal garbage.
There was a time when you could find yourself looking at the person you insulted over a yard or so of cold steel or the barrel of a pistol, often for remarks that would be considered trivial today. Dueling was perhaps a brutal custom, yet one wonders if it didn't provide a valuable social check on the boorishness that can otherwise run rampant in a society where one is free to speak their mind. A social check we currently lack. Obviously, no one has ever gotten so much as a broken nose via the internet, and that may be its major downside.

-100 for anyone who gets into a "real" fight over a game of any kind in the end its just a game.

Is it also your habit TwentyFo to start these threads on Friday so that they will stay on the BBS through the weekend?
I propose a new rule! Skuzzy avoidance syndrome leads to a one week ban. :D

Very spot on. Anyone who belittles another without true provocation, for any reason (and anywhere), only fortheir own pleasure and entertainment and thinks that this is in anyway "good", "proper" or even "necessary" behavior, has both a weak ego (for he's put people down, only to lift himself up in his own eyes), and an extremely warped social compass.
And the internet is a most horrible enabler of this kind of behavior because of it's supposed anonimity, which means to the weak and evil of character, that they won't suffer any consequences for extreme anti-social behavior and bad manners. And their only lame justification is... "it's only a game".
Got news. You're spending real life hours out of your life to play this as others are, and this is a social interaction activity. It may be a game that you're playing, but you have real relationships of all types with many real people and they with you. They're just far away, and you may not even meet them face-to-face.
And the only good side of that is it keeps the real losers in life, from regularly having to go to the hospital for a bloody nose. And it keeps me out of jail for beating to some sense into a loudmouthed yahoo who has the social conscious of a paramecium, and thinks he can say just any derogatory thing to my face.
Enjoy the anonimity of the Internet while you can. I suspect we are only a few years away from when it will be gone forever. The punishment is coming.

To some of you this game has turned into an airplane themed version of "The Sims". Congratulations.

Yea - that defines me pretty well I gotta tell you. Except I WILL NEVER PM someone unless they were obviously cheating but...since nothing can be explained on the interwebs 100%, that'll never happen. :)
So replace PM you with HO you and THAT'S ME! :)

None what so ever.

What's with all the people calling others trolls? Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean they are a troll. Be open minded and realize that this world is filled with unique people. :devil
-
Interesting how you argued for the acceptability of exchanging outrageous insults while gaming and the virtues of a "thick skin", but dislike being called a "troll" or the honest opinions of your behavior from fellow players. Shed a few layers of "skin" over the weekend?

What is up with your tone. I think you may have some kind of personal agenda or vendetta towards me. I don't understand. We have known each other for quite a while, and you of all people are attacking me? I thought you were my friend. I guess I was mistaken.
Remember, fool me once shame on you. Fool me 2 times shame on M00t. Fool me 3 times shame on me.

I'd hardly call that an attack, just a valid question.

please say you are because the most despicable thing a person can do is negative pm someone in this game.
Come on - worse than hacking the game, or toggling your connection for warp-on-demand? Worse than changing sides to occupy an SB so no one can fire it, or to control a task force so you can keep it from turning and make it an easy target? I'd say cheating like that is much more despicable than mere rudeness.
And if you act like an a-hole, you should expect to be called for it by PM or otherwise (and I think saying it for everyone to hear on 200 is usually ruder than PMing). Of course it's definitely best to err on the side of caution with that, so while I'll almost always PM someone who was warping really bad, I won't explicitly accuse them of cheating, I'll just say "You were warping pretty bad there."
IMHO accusing someone of cheating just because they beat you with an improbable shot or move is much worse than just calling them names.

well you got me :aok
cheating, Hacking the game is worse, hell ya by far!!
as far as warping goes that's not a hack,I have had to deal with different connections, some cause warping some don't, plus if a persons system isn't running great that can also cause warping issues.
I should have said Private vox someone, not PM, to me that's just dough, a negative PM is bad also, I think there is way to much 200 drama but whatever its funny sometimes, I have never negative vox or PM'd anyone only to say "great flying" or some such thing.
there are too many that act like a-holes to worry about it, I ignore all that and concentrate on the good of the game.
-

I keep hearing that such a hack does exist, but even if it does I'm sure it only accounts for a tiny fraction of players with warping issues. Still good to mention the problem politely, IMO; it not only makes them aware of it if they aren't already, but reminds them in a non-confrontational way that it's creating problems for everyone else too.
