Title: USB hubs.

Alright, so I've got a 4 port non-powered and a 4 port powered. Is it safe to plug the 4 port non-powered into the powered one, which is already plugged into my computer?

You're not going to break anything.  I've never tried it myself, but I think the USB interface is pretty good at daisy chaining.

You're supposed to be able to connect 120+ separate peripherals to a single USB port, so long as that port is the first tier and all the power requirements are met externally.

Ah alright, well I plugged the extra hub into the powered one, haven't put anything on it yet but it recognized it fine so I think I'll be alright. Would it be smart to use only that and not the internal ports on my comp? Or does it not matter much.

The only difference is where the 5 volts are coming from. The "onboard" slots are powered by the PSU, while an external powered hub is powered by the wall.

So, if you're plugging in sensitive equipment (including joysticks) or high-draw equipment (like the new HOTAS joysticks with fancy LEDs and LCDs) plug 'em into a powered hub. Your flash drive or camera will still be happy with the onboard slots.

Alright. At the moment I've got my X52, n52te, and Eclipse II plugged into my powered hub directly, and those are my main power-drawers since they've got LEDs and such. Will the non-powered USB plugged into the powered one be the same as it would, the onboard ones?

I've never had a problem with X52's plugged into non powered USB's on any of the comps I've had them plugged into over the years.  My .02

On the other side I lose SEVEN X45s due to plugging them into the computer. Best Buy footed the bill.

You also want to make sure that both hubs are of the same standard, for example USB 2.0 hub connected to powered USB 2.0 hub and not a 1.0 connected to a 2.0.
