It has been asked for previously, but I still wholeheartedly approve of the request. :aok

It has been asked for previously, but I still wholeheartedly approve of the request. :aok

What request?

All I see is a link and a list of stats.

King Kong

A.K.A.: Kong, The Eighth Wonder of the World

Height: 19'-8"

Weight: 38 tons

Regular Abilities: Very strong, intelligent, chewing skills, wrestling ability

Special Abilities: None

Weakness: Strange affinity towards beautiful woman

Film Appearances: King Kong (1933)

History: King Kong is a species of giant gorilla that lives on Skull Island in the south seas. The natives of the island give a beautiful girl as a gift during a special ceremony, and when they saw Ann Darrow they couldn’t resist. They captured her and gave her to Kong. The people on the boat came to rescue her. Kong fought the dinosaurs of the island constantly, and on that night he fought a t-rex, an elasmosaurus, and a pteranodon to protect Ann. Third fight provided a distraction, and Ann escaped. Kong followed her to the main gates of the wall, and was stunned by gas bombs. He was brought to New York, but escaped on the first showing of him. He captured Ann, climbed up the Empire State Building, and was shot down by plains. "It was beauty killed the beast."

Fighting Power: ****

Even though he is lacking special weapons, Kong is a great, intelligent fighter. He has fought many of the dinosaurs that share his home, and is very good at fighting them. He is also very strong, even strong enough to snap the Jaw of a t-rex. Using his speed, strength, and brains, he is one of the best fighters of the American monster movies.

What is the significant difference between this and a C.205?

Faster, better version of the C.205

Update the C.205/202 and give us the G.55 with it.

What is the significant difference between this and a C.205?

Well, I will try to point out the most obvious differences, based on the Serie 1 vs. the C.205

Better
- roughly 50% more firepower (3 x 20mm vs 2 x 20 mm, 12,7 mm are the same on both)
- roughly 40-50% more cannon ammo (700-750 rds vs. 500)
- roughly 50% longer range/endurance due to a larger fuel capacity
- much lower wingloading, even fully loaded, thus potentially better turning
- high alt handling due to larger wing area

About the same
- engine power
- climbrate

somewhat worse

- speed (same engine power but a larger plane)
- accleration* (same engine power but more weight)

*Note that a lot of the extra weight the G.55 has over the 205 comes from ammo and fuel. You can loose both very quickly if you dont want that much of both, thus negating the accleration disadvantage and further enhancing the turn advantage.

It is not a C.205.  That is the main difference.  Please see the URL.  If you prefer more variety in Italian planes perhaps review the Reggiane Re.2005.  Here is the Wiki URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggiane_Re.2005

The Reggiane Re.2005 is really an incredible machine it seems.  Looks like it could be fun. More Italian planes of this sort could improve the game perhaps.

AWwrgwy.  You obviously did not go to the link as your response is more appropriate for the O'Club.  There is no hard criteria that we must include every aspect and nuance for a posted wish here.  Nor do you set the rules and criteria.  It is just a place to start a dialog.  Maybe get some interest.

The worst thing that could happen if this forum is used correctly is that we can learn something new about the vehicle(s) in question.

The Fugitive,

It is OK that this has been posted for before.  It will be OK if someone posts for it again.  Not tagging along on an old dead thread can have value too.

Thanks for your posts,

No, I didn't follow the link.  I didn't see a wish or why it was being wished for.  There was an implied wish just by the fact that it was posted here, but otherwise nada.

I want to be sold.  Kind of like what you did in this post I am responding to.  Give me a reason to be interested.  Anyone can post a link to something.  Recently someone else did just that.  Spamming the board to links to five or six different aircraft and vehicles.

I want to know why you (the "royal" you) think it should be included.  What niche would it fill that is not already being filled by something already in the game?  how would it improve game play?  Why should the developers make the time and effort to add it?

I would guess that most of the wishes are based on "coolness".  It is fast, has big guns, it's uber.

Sell me.  Sell everyone else.

Sell you?

The Germans were going to shut down the entire 109 production series and make the G.55 only.

Quote
In December 1942 a technical commission of the Regia Aeronautica was invited by the Luftwaffe to test some German aircraft in Rechlin. The visit was part of a joint plan for the standardization of the Axis aircraft production. In the same time some Luftwaffe officers visited Guidonia where they were particularly interested in the performance promised by the Serie 5 fighters. On 9 December these impressions were discussed in a Luftwaffe staff meeting and raised the interest of Goering himself. In February 1943, a German test commission was sent in Italy to evaluate the new Italian fighters.[6] The commission was led by Oberst Petersen and was formed by Luftwaffe officers and pilots and by technical personnel, among them the Flugbaumeister Malz. The Germans also brought with them several aircraft including a Fw 190 A-5 and a Bf 109 G-4 for direct comparison tests in simulated dogfights.

The tests began 20 February 1943. The German commission was very impressed by the Italian aircraft, the G.55 in particular. In general, all the Serie 5 fighters were very good at low altitudes, but the G.55 was also competitive with its German opponents in term of speed and climb rate at high altitudes still maintaining superior handling characteristics. The definitive evaluation by the German commission was "excellent" for the G.55, "good" for the Re.2005 and "average" for the C.205. Oberst Petersen defined the G.55 "the best fighter in the Axis" and immediately telegraphed his impressions to Goering. After listening the recommendations of Petersen, Milch and Galland, a meeting held by Goering on 22 February 1943 voted to produce the G.55 in Germany.

Quote
The interest in the G.55 program was still high after the Armistice: in October 1943, Kurt Tank, who previously personally tested a G.55 in Rechlin, having nothing but praise for the aircraft, was in Turin to discuss G.55 production. However, war events and the not yet optimized production process were the reasons for which the G.55 program was eventually abandoned by the Luftwaffe. Early production of G.55 required about 15,000 man-hours; while there were estimations to reduce the effort to about 9,000 man-hours, the German factories were able to assemble a Bf 109 in only 5,000 man-hours. The DB 603 were instead to be used in Tank's own Ta-152 C.

I want to be sold.

The forum name is Wishlist.  Its context is that of the HiTech WWII flight simulator known as Aces High.  Posts in this forum are for vehicles to be considered.

The plane sells itself.  If the facts about a vehicle are not sufficient neither will factless void dialogs.  Not all of us have all the facts.  With this type forum we can post the various pieces\links of data that we have found to present the truest possible picture of a vehicle.  We can also use it to regenerate interest of a previous post (which I stand guilty of).

They have a forum for unrestricted topics and non-facts based posts called the O'Club.  I think this might be more of what you are looking for sir.

ohhhh, I get it. This is going to be the new B-29 wish. Once a week someone will come in and request the same plane over and over again. Sure why not, it worked so well with the B-29 requests  :aok

They've probably been requesting the G.55 since AH came out. The threads go waaaay back. However, unlike the B-29, it'd actually have a place in the game (none o' that "NUKE!!!" crap associated with it)
