I could add Lauri Törni (Larry Thorne) to the list too as he did good in two wars. He became legendary in the war against soviets in ww2 first, then continued to Vietnam in US special forces.

Hey, what happen to roaches. They survive that last five great mass extinctions.

"Over the course of 100 days, Hayha killed 542 people with his rifle. He took out another 150 or so with his SMG, sending his credited kill-count up to 705."

I loved the simple understatements like:
"Everyone who didn't have enormous balls of steel ran away. . . ."
Good stuff! :rofl

Different article, still love the style:
"The wider scientific community believed the human body could not survive more than 18 Gs of deceleration--Stapp hit 35. Because he whoopee could."

I read that a few weeks ago and liked it pretty well. Kind of dissapointed they left Carlos Hathcock off of it though.

Audie Murphy would belong there ;)

Would?
He is there.

Woot? Missed that one.
The thread loaded in a very slow and odd way though. Took minutes.

My personal opinion there was one missing from the list, Gunnery Seargent Carlos Hathcock
link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Hathcock#Decorations
though of course I'm being biased in my choice because of the common grounds we share, AKA fellow Marines.
just a thought

"In To Hell and Back, Audie Murphy plays Audie Murphy, a badass war hero who proves his worth on the battlefield with his awesome badassery. The movie was the highest-grossing film Universal made, a record it held for 20 years until the making of Jaws. That's right, they actually needed a movie about a giant, man-eating, shark to top Audie Murphy's awesomeness."
Funny and historically educational at the same time!

I had said Hathcock was missing from that list myself on the first page, and I agree with you wholeheartedly here. I've read everything I can get my hands on about him, he was truly a hero and a superbadass. He and his spotter wiped out an entire company of NVA infantry once. Just think about that for a second.
