Am about to order Saitek pedals, based on comments I have read here and accross the web. They will be paired with the Saitek X52 stick and throttle. (I'm one of the satisfied users of the X52.) Are there any quirks the pedals have with AH that I need to be conscious of on install? Thanks in advance.
-
Mine were plug and play. No issues what so ever.
Im another Saitek fan, ( x52) ive had mine for 2yrs and not a glitch.
With that said, when they break im going for CH products due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback and info many here have given.
-
i've ordered a set last week. expecting them this tuesday. hopefully they work well.
my saitek cyborg x isn't too bad either. some faults, nothing major.
-
The only issue Ive had with the pedals is on occasion they get stuck. You rudder to hard left or right and they jam up on the inside, causing a long delay in getting back to the game because you have to unscrew a bunch of screws, un-jam them, and then re-screw them back. To be fair this hasnt happened to me in awhiles ; Also, I heard rumor they corrected the problem.
Other then that the pedals are fine. My entire Saitek setup has turned out to be pretty much trouble free and I'd probably buy another. Im so use to the controls I wouldnt feel like learning another product.

Mine came boxed with Velcro strips though I know of a set that didn't include them. Two 8" strips will keep them snugly planted to the floor.

Mine aren't really all that old, but I seem to get some nasty spiking from the right toe brake sometimes. I've had to set up a big deadband on the toe brakes to keep it from being a problem.
Not really a big deal, just a little annoying at time.

Thanks for the replies! Ordered my set, should be here this week. Now, to learn how to use them I'm back after about 5 months away from the game. Since I wasn't a good shot before, I won't lose much during the learning process.

If you contact Saitek, they will send you a set of little plactic parts that stick on the inside to cure that problem. Mine used to do the same thing - no problems since I installed thefixer-upper pieces. IIRC, it's 4 triangular shaped piecs with sticky pads on them that hold the wheels in the tracks - easy to insert by following the instructions.

They sent them to me but didnt send any instructions. :huh So here they sit, until it happens enough for me to make the effort to find out how to put them in.

Here is a link to the Saitek forum, and on the top of the 2nd page of this thread there is a PDF file with pics that shows how to install it. Good luck!

i finaly figured out how to fix my saitek pedals!
they had locked up a couple of times when i first got them 2 years ago, the reason was because i had a big rug under them, the bottom of the case is very thin and flexes then if you twist your foot just a little, they untrack,i removed the rug and did not have another problem for all this time, untill a few days ago moved to an area that is carpeted and bang right off same crap , in a fight and pedals lock up,
so i spent a little more time figuring out why.
they will send you some kind of parts to fix but an easier fix is to get a peice of wood just the right size to fit under the pedels( mine was 1/2 inch thick) the 4 holes at the top and bottom of the base are perfect for wood screws, they feel better than new with a good hard bottom under them!! :aok

Interesting, thanks for the heads up wwhiskey.
I have 'old' thin matted carpet so hope to be safe when I purchase Saitek pedals. They're great to avoiding twisting and negatively affecting the ailerons.

I am sorry if it is wrong to bring this up after so long but I am going out of my head....
my saitek peddles keep getting stuck(jumping off track)....I have to take them apart.....a PITA.....I cant find the PDF that describes the "fix" the link is dead I am hoping one of you guys that have that PDF can send it to me....
I have taken them apart at least 5 times now...I am surprised they are still in one piece after the aggravation I am having over this :bhead :bhead :bhead
I had to hook up an old x52 twisty but the views are not working correctly..... :bhead :bhead and I am too used to the peddles now to go back to twisty stick...... :cry :cry
please anyone that has the PDF for the fix....please....(is that INK begging).......YES....please hook me up with that PDF..... :pray :pray :pray :pray

I went thru the same thing, including sending them back to saitek for repair. After 2-3 months, same thing with forward position lock up. I tossed 'em in the trash and replaced with CH peds. Five years later, I've yet to have an issue.
Anything Saitek craps out sooner or later.

I wish I could do that..I am using the CH fighter stick....thats why I need my rudder peddles.....but with 6 kids I just cant :cry

Mine still work great,,, I've had the wood underneath them for 4 1/2 years now and never once had them back apart,
They work as good as the day I fixed them!
-
The only other suggestion...during the period my peds would lock fwd I slam the back pedal forward with considerable force. Sometimes it would solve the problem. Even when it did, sooner or later they'd lock again.
Maybe buy a cheapo twisty until you can replace the peds???

I have 3 saiteks right here...2 X52s and a cyborg...but like you said earlier...they crap out....and that is true each one has different problems that wont allow me to use them..... :bhead

mine are screwed down to a piece of plywood since day one...(mind you I have had them for 4 years now) but once they started to jump track it is non stop now within a few minutes of fighting they get stuck.....
-
Sorry to hear that!! I don't really want to have to replace mine!

Very nice looking pedals. If I had the funds I would probably buy one just because they look so nice.

hey Christmas is coming up, you should buy your friendly tattoo guy who has entirely too many kids a pair :O :O :O
I am joking I do not want you to buy me a pair......just being a smartass cuz I did comment about not being able to spend cash on a cheap stick

Lol, I have a pair of Saitek pedals that only work when attached to a keyboard USB in. Dont ask me why, Ive tried every possible fix and combination. Its the same even with different keyboards. Weird.

hey I believe you said back then, you got the PDF for fix for the off track problem....you wouldn't still happen to have it?
and ya that sounds weird, I think I remember you saying that before, I cant imagine what would be the issue.....
I bet you tried everything to get them to work....got rid of all the SST and drivers and used the windows drivers?

Every possible thing, including the PDF. It be what it be. :bhead Lol.
