Title: M3 75mm Gun Motor Carriage
Post by: BATTLEMASTER on April 06, 2009, 12:30:56 AM
When I first played this game I saw that it had an M3 halftrack which looks like the one I own.  I thought "Cool!  But where is the loadout option for the 75mm anti-tank gun?"

The M3 75mm gun motor carriage was an effective tank destroyer used in WWII.  The halftrack mounted a special high-velocity 75mm gun that could take out the heavily-armored German tanks that the Sherman couldn't.  However the gun had a limited traverse and the halftrack would have to shoot and scoot.  They often pulled a 1 ton ammunition trailer to supplement what there was inside the halftrack's floor ammo bins.

When the M10 tank destroyer was introduced, many of these M3s were phased out and converted into armored personnel carriers, like the one I have and the one in the game.

Anyways, my wish is to have an extra configuration for the M3 halftrack to make it a 75mm gun motor carriage tank destroyer.  Although it would have light armor, it would be the fastest vehicle on tracks to carry a panzer popper :)

It's possible. About a half hour drive down the highway in Notus, Idaho there sat an M3 at a gas station. I don't know if it's still there.

I think it would be a blast to drive. I shoot n' scoot with an M8 because I'm a horrible GVer - and if it gets down to a slug fest in the open I almost always die

BATTLEMASTER I would also be interested in seeing pictures of the M3 you own

There's a link in my signature of my collection.  You just have to navigate the webpages there :)  I posted a different topic about army trucks over here:  http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,262213.0.html

But yeah, that's what I wish for!

Just helping out   :D

It took me three days to find the link to the other pics from the Dodge pic.  I'm a little slow.
