Title: Stolen Plane From Canada Chased by F-16's
Post by: trax1 on April 07, 2009, 11:18:59 AM
It seems some Canadian stole a single prop plane in Canada and flew it across the U.S border, 2 F-16's were scrambled to intercept, they chased him through Wisconsin, Illinois, & then into Missouri were he finally landed on a road and then took off running, state troopers caught him at a near by convenient store, here's a video about it.

Just a test to see how easily it could be done perhaps?

That's my first thought also.  You would think, after 911....  He's intercepted over a big, empty lake.  BOOM!!

All I can figure. with the "no hostile intent" thing, is they were going to let him start diving into something in before they took any action.  Apparently there is nothing to threaten between Canada and Missouri.

"Hey, Pete, you see those f-16's on our 6?"
*shakes wings a bit to try and get a vis, mistaken as aknowledging the f-16s*
"Nah, George, we're still in the clear."
"I woulda sworn I saw somethin..."

Couple of f-16s pull up behind me when I'm flyin a cessena I'm making sure I'm doing what I'm told...

He was from Canada. I'm sure he didn't even  know Wisconsin had a State Capital building.  ABC's virtual viewer graphics were wicked. Muhaaa.(sarcasm) I know shouldn't joke, kid out for a joyride. Remembers back few years ago in Florida. Kid rammed a credit union building or something. The Cessna lost that collision big time.

Read the latest updates guys, this wasn't some kid out for a joyride. He was trying to commit suicide and wanted the F-16s to fire.

"Suicide by Cop" seems to be getting much to popular lately.

This was a definitely better outcome than taking a gun somewhere, shooting a bunch of innocent people, then killing your self.

Smart move if I was a Criminal. Rob a bank, And fly into another country. I mean, The Cops can't pull you over...Helicopters don't have the range and what are the fighter jets going to do? Shoot you down? You Have a right to court so no. It would buy you some time to think about what you are going to do next.

You would have to really work on your short field take offs.

It also buys time for the authorities to think about what they'll do next too!

He said "I wanted to be shot down."

If I was a terrorist testing American airspace I would say the same thing. Slap on the wrist maybe a few years locked up but fed and not shot. Just saying...

Not only his meals, consider the cost involved with flying those jets after him. Also there are the follow on costs of trying to prevent further occurrences and the procedures that were, and still are being followed because of his stupidity.

But on serious tone, I am glad no one end up getting hurt or worse.

meh, if they weren't chasing him they'd have been doing some boring training mission over Melrose bomb range in New Mexico or something anyways (spending money either way). At least the F-16 pilots got to have some excitement!

I've been warning people for years that Canada was out to start WWIII. They want back their beer and hockey, and they're gonna strike when we least expect it. I fully expect to see a Canadian blockade of the Great Lakes implemented any day now.

stop the presses CANADA INVADES

Yesterday at 1750 CST, Canada invaded the US with a quick over the border strike for milk and cookies. Canadian General Jon Denver said "We ran out of milk and cookies here, with no means to replace those cookies we had to secure more for the future of Canada". American officials were not immediately available for comment.
