Any advice?
I'm looking into getting Hyundai Genesis with Tech PKG. USAA spitting out 36K for it....

Look at resale, not just entry price. Also plan on keeping the thing for a long time in order to recoup the full value of your investment.

lol just my opinion, but don't get a hyundai. Seriously.
It will be in the shop more than on the road.
Nissan nissan nissan my friend. That's all you need.
4 cyl Altima, will get you 150k miles without many issues , with some style and easy on the wallet at the pump.
6 cyl power too! :)
Rides ALOT better than the Hyundai too.
Now if you are looking for less than the Altima, well their lower priced model is a great option too. Great runner for many many miles.
Warranty not too shabby either. The powertrain is usually the most costly, and I believe it's at least 50k miles or 5 years.
Remember, that 100k warranty you are paying for for HY is packed a bit into the cost of the vehicle.
Let me tell you a story, for grins and giggles I went to a large KIA/Hyundia dealer in my area.
2 of the vehichles didn't start, 1 the remote door unlocks didn't work.
When we test drove the HY, the engine smelled TOXIC. A smell I can't get off my nose for some reason and it has been 3 years. I'm not joking.
About 5 miles into the test drive, I hit a small pothole, it sounded like the car fell apart. 5 miles later, the damn engine quit and started smoking.
This car had 74 miles on it when we started the test drive.
They came to pick us up in another car, we all pilled in and before I got in the backend of the car was so low to the ground I thought we would explode if we hit a bump too hard.
HY's are pieces of CHIT, nothing more.

I' m not sure, but I think the warrenty on Hyundai is 100,000 miles now.
damn, the company's come a long way since they brought their first car over from Korea. (remember the pony)
My brother-in-law has a Hyndai accent. It's over 10 years old now with 130,000 miles on it. He's a useless bag of protoplasm, he is. "Change the oil? I didn't know you had to do that!" I mean he's done absolutly zero maintenance on it. Amazingly, it still runs.
Sounds like Sincraft story is as much about a useless dealership than the car itself.
But with sales numbers pretty well down across the board, you should be able to find a good deal on anything.

Sincraft,
I had hyundai accent for almost 10 years without major problems...also this upcoming car has bumper to bumper for 60k.

Hyundai's quality has really risen in the last decade. Some of their models are really starting to get best value and quality awards. Granted, some of their models are ugly in my opinion, but I do not think of them as the cheapo imports of the 1980's.
I'd read over a lot of reviews, but more importantly I'd recommend do a lot of test driving and be patient. The sales guy is going to want you to buy today with that car you just drove and loved. But I'd test drive as many different models as possible in your price range so you can get a feel at all the brands. Don't stop at just one brand.

If you're so dead set on Hyundai, why post at all? Get the "Genesis". If you're brand loyal in the first place, there's nothing much further to discuss.

Seeing as how you had it for 10 years, what happened after that, it broke down? Sold it, still have it? I'll tell you one thing, my dad still has his 20 year old Lexus, and he occasionally drives it around town or sometimes to work.

I always take personal opinions on cars with a big grain of salt. You hear a person say "Oh XXXXXX's are POS's etc." But a lot of non-routine maintenance is prevenative. So ask yourself when you're talking to that person, what kind of driver are they? Do they have more than their fair share of bumps and scraps on their current car? And is there a smell of burnt rubber in the general vicinity of their car?

I like how the Hondas drive. Toyotas have similar build quality but I don't fit into most of the seats because the pedals are too close to the steering wheel. Also the honda suspension is usually a bit tighter and more precise than the toyota and every hyundai I've driven.
That said, I'm really considering the pontiac G8 for my next car. The GT and GTX have versions of the ultra-reliable vette LS series engine and the cars are fairly modern and handle better than many previous GM sedans. Fuel economy for the GT is ok, but the GTX gets terrible gas mileage probably due to performance oriented transmission and drivetrain tweaks more than the increased horsepower.
360+ hp in the GT is probably enough in a 4-door sedan anyhow. $36000ish for a nice modern 4-door sedan with a vette motor :)
The only 2 big G8 drawbacks - the cupholders aren't up to typical US standards, and they don't have a GPS navigation option yet. If you don't care about either of those problems, then it's a really nice car according to reviews and from talking to a few people who own them.

I was looking for a Jeep yesterday, but i've seen an Chrysler 300 , brand new but 2008,very impressive luxury interior,3.5L ,V6, fully loaded, silver, leather seats ,total price with discount and all taxes ,freight 24000 CAD=(1.24 cad=1usd)aprox 19000 USD.This Chrysler300 is losing its resale value , but looks like good quality built, i would compare it with a BMW,Mercedes but half price. It's risky to buy this brands ,but 2 days ago the canadian gov. announced if GM and Chrysler goes bankrupt the gov is going to cover the warranty.

G6's :)

G6's :)
I particularly liked Consumer Reports' summary of the G6... "The Pontiac G6 is not a very good car". I don't think they said that about any other car sold in the US :)

Hello moppet,
I'm looking for anything that would change my mind. Or advices on how to reduce cost. What I'm not looking is comments like yours.

As a Hyundai OWNER, I can tell you there is nothing wrong with them. I've bought 3 new (2 in '06 and one in '08) and currently have 2 of them.
You will hear horror stories about any and every make from someone at some point. I have one about Chevrolet. I bought a '06 Chevy Silverado new off the lot and had to take it back 3 times for transmission work. We compared it against another new truck and the A/C did not work on pass. side on that one. I'm not going to say that they are all bad, they are probably nice vehicles in general. I just had a bad experience. If you were going to buy a Chevy, I would not tell you not to buy one.
I traded it in on 2 Hyundais and have not looked back. Absolutely no trouble from any of the 3. Period.
I really love it when when someone spews about trading in an "American" vehicle for a "Korean" vehicle. The sticker in the door jamb of that Chevrolet Silverado clearly states "Assembled in Mexico". My Hyundai SantaFe is assembled right here in Alabama.
(steps off soapbox)
Dude, the Genisis is a badaz car. Period. You are looking at the Coupe right? I could post a ton on that amazing little monster, instead I will just say click here.......http://www.hyundaigenesis.com/coupe/ (http://www.hyundaigenesis.com/coupe/)
(and turn up your speakers)
Once the vid loads and it sinks in that you are watching a Hyundai, click on the screen for more options. Be sure to check out the 360 degree view. :devil
