Title: Will this system work?

Trying to see if this system will work to play the game. I will add a 256 video card to it.
Fast Dell Optiplex GX280 Computer

Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz with Hyper Threading (extremely fast)
2 Gigabytes of DDR2 Ram Memory (upgradeable to 4 Gb, see below)
HUGE 250 GB Sata Hard Drive (Sata is the newest and fastest technology)
DVD/CDRW Combo Optical Drive (Plays and Burns/Records CD's and plays DVD's)
10/100/1000 LAN Ethernet Networking and Internet (Cable-DSL Internet Ready)
8 2.0 USB Ports (2 on front and 6 on rear)
Microsoft Windows XP

Don't forget the sound card, if you're not going to use the onboard sound from the motherboard.

That said, contact TilDeath on the forums. He built my machine for less than I could of gotten the parts for. Even if you don't buy from him, his knowledge is pretty nice to have when you are getting a new machine.

This should have gone in the Hardware and Software (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/board,18.0.html) forum. That being said, we need the specifications of the hardware you're using. Telling us what the hardware does doesn't tell us what the hardware is capable of doing. ;)

EDIT: You should have gone with an E8400. :P

That chip is not all that good. Get an e8400 or e8500 if on a budget.

I disagree.  I played AH on P4 2.8ghz with 1gb of ddr and I was able to play it at fairly good settings for years.  Sure its not going to be max settings, but he should get good frame rates.

What 256mb Video card are you putting into this machine?  And also, don't pay too much for this.  It sounds like a craigslist post and people are always trying to overprice their computers there.

I think Skuzzy said that chip is one of he worst intel made and the duo cores were one of the best.

Actually it looks like an ebay listing.

Yes it will run AH but try to get a 512 video card rather than a 256.
