Post by: mtnman on April 12, 2009, 11:36:33 AM: Sticky situation. Rushing in with too much force gets the captain killed. Letting them get to shore with the captain is a massive failure as well. I'd let 'em float around and think about it for awhile. They know killing the captain will be the end for them as well, so they won't want to do that. Hopefully they lose enough hope in eventual success that they give in hoping for some leniency.

I think some seals sneaking in and (gassing?) everyone to knock them out would be cool. Or maybe giving them some drugged water. The problem there is it shows our hand for the next time this occurs (it will happen again).

Tough call though- this is setting precedence for the future.

I think he'll try to keep from handling it too directly, instead choosing to let the "experts" handle it. He needs to be in a position to accept credit for success, but have deniability in case of failure.

One things for sure- he probably thinks we need tighter gun control for pirates. Maybe by raising the taxes on their ammo?

Ease up under the boat, attach a line to it and pull it under with a sub. Watch the skinnies try to swim with an RPG or AK....not gonna happen....survival instinct would make them drop the weapons that are pulling them under and try to swim. Then it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Either way, we MUST make examples out of these scumbags. If we let them live, the hijackings will continue.

he's a US citizen. if the US wants to act, then no one can tell us otherwise.
