Air Medal
MEF4UD has been awarded the Air Medal for the sinking of an enemy destroyer. After being released by 5th AF, whom VMF-251 was escorting, the squadron assisted with cleanup operations. Through repeated strafing runs, MEF4UD destroyed one of the enemy vessels in a 109F-4.

Bronze Star
Trol flew his 25th sortie with the squadron in FSO, and has been awarded the Bronze Star.
