Title: photoshop elements
Post by: pxdig on April 14, 2009, 04:59:54 PM
Hello all,

I just bought photoshop elements and I am amazed how un-user friendly it is (at least to me!!).  However, I really want to skin planes.  So, I know there are many tutorials out there on how to actually skin then but does anyone know of a tutorial on how to use photoshop specifically for skinning AH2 planes?  thanks.

Go here: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php?action=search;advanced
and type "tutorial" as the search keywords, and select only the Custom Sounds and Skins forum.

I pointed him to a search which on my end gives at least a dozen results for tutorial threads/links in this forum, incl. Fester's, etc. Just wondering if it's that or it not working that he found funny.

I have gone through the search engine.  I have review at least a dozen several threads dealing with how to make a skin.  However, none really addressed my level (which is very high) of incompetence when it comes to photoshop and skins.  I decided to ask a general question on the forum to see if anyone had anything off the forum that perhaps I could use.  I realize this is going to be a difficult process to learn, but I really appreciate the guys that do the skins, I really enjoy their effort and attention to detail, and after playing this game for so many years I guess I just want to contribute.

I found your post funny because you point out the perfectly obvious, believe me I would always do a search on the forum before asking.

Perhaps I should have clarified, I would like to know if anyone has any info dealing with photoshop elements and skinnning that is NOT listed on this forum already.

Thanks.

Well, what specifically are you having trouble with?  Creating layers?  Finding a specific tool?  I've never used elements, but apparently it's supposed to be a simplified photoshop, which I've been using for almost 10 years now... so ask away.

I think the biggest part of this is learning the program. Doing a good skin is a project that could take months....just for one skin! Learning the art program that you are going to use is very important. Most programs I've had come with some training tutorials. Use them over and over until you become more comfortable with moving around in the program. After you know your way around in the program, start a skin.... not the one you want to do, any skin. Use the tools the program has to figure out the best way to draw your panel lines and rivets. There are a number of tutorials on the boards to get you started with this, but you will have to be the one to figure out what applies to yuor art program and what doesn't....this is way you need to learn your program.
