I wish there would be an option to put on or off an optional view; such as, we can still view our plane (in F3 mode) after the pilot has died. If a puffy ack blows and kills your pilot, I'd still like to see what happens to my plane (same for the plane if it goes boom, give it 5 seconds of view). The player can exit this by going to his clipboard and putting the optional view off.
I didn't buy a gallon of anti-fire chemical for nothing. Start the unneeded flaming... :cry

The way things are now, when the pilot actually dies the plane explodes. Therefore, there is no plane to see after the pilot dies.
Ever bail out over your own field, .ef, and watch your plane crater the field from the tower?

Optional view is that bad eh?

Its a network thing guys. If your flying along, lose a wing, pilot killed, bailed, etc.
Now you want to see what happened to your plane, plus your floating in chute, etc.
You just doubled the network requirements for that area. Instead of 1 object to track, now there are 2, you (alive or dead, ghost or chute) and your plane.
Not going to happen. And no I'm not HT, but I've seen a lot of these come & go over the years.

No, for the same reason stated above. It's an unnecessary load on the game servers to try to determine where your plane would go with a lifeless body in the cockpit.
-
But we already have the same thing when we bail out. Why would it be unnecessary when you didn't bail but die?
It's basically the same thing.
Added to that, the wish is for it being optional, so it wouldn't stress out the server too much :)

If you were to use what we have now, I don't think it would be a real strain on the system. But why go through the trouble to allow it? Obviously if you're interested in flying or attacking a target (the only reason you'd be out and about in the first place) and you end up getting shot down. Why would you care to take 20 seconds from an optional view to watch your vessel strike the land below while you could have used that time to get back in the air?
-
I'm pretty sure HT at some point (either on the forum or back in the sky-blue Q&A channel days) said something like "Once you're dead, that's it, game over". Referring to there being no interest to modeling what happens after the player's dead.

wrongway should be a critic..............lol

How is one dead pilot, and a dead airplane going to the ground any more load than a single bomber dropping 15 bombs then bailing?
Simple... its not.
If someones pilot dies we should see a small puff of smoke or some thing and the a/c should go into its "hes dead or bailed" animation till it hits the ground. I cant see it using any more data at that point than a single bomb falling would, and the pilot would already be back in the tower. Naturaly its still nice to see things blown to dust.

Yes, it will add another load to the server, perhaps not a substantial load, but a load nonetheless. I feel it's an unnecessary use of processing power. After all, we want to make sure connections remain stable on both ends.

Although I often have that "what tha.............. was that" tower experience and curiosity makes me sound off on Ch 200. I wonder if my engine blew up or was my pilot instantly killed.
But deep down I know the answer.

I can hear the whines from kill stealers already, WTF I KNOCKED THE TAIL OFF THAT FALLING PLANE AND NO KILL!!!!... :D But I do like the idea, and couldn't it be made so if your pilot is killed it's like an instant blackout. The plane would fly as if the pilot was pilot wounded, and the plane would just slowly fall towards the ground.
