Title: Deuce and a half
Post by: LCCajun on April 19, 2009, 07:01:45 PM
Ok I am bored and for some reason I got to thinking about the deuce and a half. I wouldn't mind having that in game it was used in WWII. I am not sure if it is faster then the m3 if so you can see what the advantage would be anyways just my wish. Let the flaming begin.

The 2.5 ton truck was introduced in 1949, Chronomaster.

Your talking about the M35, right?

If so, i thought it entered service after WWII, not quote me on it though.

Sorry I meant the CCKW "jimmy" which was called the deuce and a half not the M35. It was manufactured by GMC in 1941. It is famous for use during the red ball express, but wasn't the only time used it was used throughout WWII.

Since the M3 we have right now is a half-track, a full wheeled truck might be a good idea.

No it wasn't.    The "Deuce and a Half" is an M35, which was introduced in 1949.    The "WC" classes were used in WWII.   The majority of the "WC's" were Dodge Power Wagons.

"The Deuce and a half of WWII for the US" was the WC-61 and 62.   They were 1 1/4 Ton vehicles.

I'm far from worked up, merely providing you ANOTHER way to implement a vehicle that DID see WWII service.

You're welcome.

That is a WC-63 (Dodge).  That'd be nice too.

:huh I don't get the malfunction here, the GMC CCKW was a 2.5 ton truck.

I apologize for my gap in memory.  I wasn't being as hostile as he assumed I was.    Correct the CCKW was a 2.5 ton cargo carrier that served in WWII.

I'll always apologize when I'm wrong.    Sorry, LCCajun, but you should have been more relaxed.

Back on topic...

I think the truck would be a worthy addition, as it was used quite commonly I'm sure.

Isn't it already in the game?

WTG!!!, a verry good idea, I THINK it was faster than almost all half-tracks, not sure though, but it would need to have the f3 third person view or at least rear view mirrors as even the jap naval bombers could kill it as it is...a truck, and as so, unarmored, the armored car would kill it with ease :noid. A good idea but it wouldn't really have a place if it dosen't have anything special or at least slighly better than its counter parts . The only problem is that I think you got the wrong war for the duce and a half (I think it was Korean war but don't quote me on that, as I may be wrong), but still an actual truck would be nice. :aok

Ya!  I had a Bish Horde of them (I was taking off from a Bish base after all) cut across the runway and mow me and my Ki-84 down!

I believe he'd like them to be used as well, aside from the convoys.

Here's mister I've played for a day and even though its really easy to kill the truck, what lightly armored or non-armored vehicle isn't easy to kill with aircraft?

If you're thinking of adding the CCKW, you might as well make it a "duck".  :D

Yeah, and if they're National Guard those memories are from last drill!  :D

Heck, we had M60s up until six months ago before we finally switched to the M240B.

I believe the convoy trucks currently in the game are modeled after the Opel "blitz" trucks used by the Germans.  Note that they have only two wheels in the rear, not four.
