will you great fans of italian aircraft fly this bomber which has tiny defensive guns as much as you fly the c202?
-
Ouch
-
I'm guessing that is indeed the case, they'll fly it just as much as they fly the 202.

Well the Cant Z 1007 and P 108 have a way better defensive arament than our JU 88.
12.7mm as aposed to 7.9mm.They both have very usefull loads, Cant Z 1007 has a bigger load than the B26, The p 108 has a bigger load than a B 17.
Cant Z. 1007
Two 12.7mm and two 7.7mm
two torpedos
4,410lb internal & 4 551 lb bombs on wings
280mph
P.108
Eight 12.7mm mg's
3 torpedos or 7,716lb's of bombs
267 mph
I should think these aircraft would be a little more atractive to fly on a buff mishion than say the comparative atractiveness of the C 202 on a ftr mishion.
They cary a competive( in some cases better)
bomb load than other's we have or would consider to have in AH, and thier defensive arament is not as bad as the JU 88.
The P 108 had 4 of it's 12.7mm MG's in remote barbets located in 2 turets on the wings and sighted by remote sighting station which covered the rear of the bomber nicely, the rest were located in convential mounts in the waist and else whear.
lets add some collor to the MA, and even the score for italy some they had some cool equipment.

S!
Too repeat, the Cant is a fine plane, and would do just fine in the MA in low density enviroments, such as attacks on Task Forces.
It would also give the Italians a more complete set.

yes the cant with the EXACT SAME ARMAMENT as the 202 will be very popular for its heavier defenses.
LOL!!!!!!
:D

Ok Cit, instead of a bomber at the same price we'll get the DB603 engined G.56 "Centauro" armed with 3x20mm (650rds) and 2x12,7mm (740rds). 440mph at 23K. We agree it'll be perked. Deal done? :)
-
I suspect it would be as popular as the JU 88 maby more so if the criteria for popularity is defensive arament in a buff then the curent exceptable enty leval of protection for a buff would be the JU 88 we have this being said the Cant Z 1007 and P 108 would be elegable by a long shot.

tiny 202 guns (http://pub37.ezboard.com/fonlineww2flightsimulatorfrm1.showMessage?topicID=2.topic)
follow the link to theJV44 Wurger-Staffel Messageboard (http://pub37.ezboard.com/bonlineww2flightsimulator)
check the link out to a them tiny 202 guns tearing up a p40. range at about d10 but damn ah 202 dont hit like that.
-
Nice guncam film. Thanks for the link.
-
that p40 is still intact in that film.
it may have flat tires and some holes but its still in one piece.
if ht added gfx smoke effects to bullet strikes the current c202 would make similar harmless sdmoke show :p
-
Fester, your *evil* :)
-
He does have a good point though.
-
What you guys fail to mention is that the P40 in that film may now not be flying as well as it could before those hits. ;) An effect NOT modelled in AH. So blowing off the skin in game has no real effect. Increased drag... less efficient control surfaces... reduced diving speeds and G tolerances... all that good stuff, not modeled ;)

I'n not sure, but I think reduced G tolerances are modeled.

HEI rounds proved to be very effective aganst aircraft that is whay so many countries used theam aganst aircraft targets, they felt it was a better way to bring aircraft down. Blow away controll surfsaces, set fires , ect...You get more bang for your buck for less weight in an aircraft, HEI ammo is very effective and less weight than AP ammo like the 50 cal round. Ap ammo make nice holes in an aircraft HEI blow's it away. This debate has raged on and on in the end it seams as though the effectivenss of the HEI type ammo is Heigh, it is also a short film, how long did that P 40 remain in the air? I have read numiours acounts of C 202 combats whear Spit's blew up after asorbing damage from the 12.7mm HEI rounds.
-
Just take a look at books like Malta: The Hurricane Years, Malta: The Spitfire Years, Hurricanes Over Tobruk, Spitfires Over Sicily, Hell Island ... to check if 2x12,7mm HE and API were enuff or not to stop Hurricanes, Spitfires, P40, Blenheims, B25 and B17. This is history. However I can understand why HTC cannot give 12,7mm the proper hitting power.
Anyway, that P40 was shot down. Those were not fireworks around him :)
-
I watched the film a few times and slowed it down I count 8 HEI hits, asuming the chain was all HEI that is prety good damage from just those hits.
Anybody get more hit's counted?
-
that p40s left wing drops and is headed in to the med. Its ded. Theres seems to be very little g-load so there would be no wings or control surfaces coming off.
Also you can count the tracer fire and the number of hits that p40 has taken. However its not clear as to what state that p40 was in prior to that gun cam footage.
That p40 is hardly "still flying" unless you consider a left bank in to the deck as controlled flight.
We have no idea as to what damage those rounds are causing internally and for the most part AH doesn't model that type of damage either. Apart from the smoke it is seems from the debris flying off the p40 that the 12.7 round on the 202 in AH hits no where near as hard as the guncam.
