Ok I have only been flying for a lil over a year so by no means am I a vet, however I would like to see something implemented for making the guys who haven't been flying for a month have to go to the TA. Earlier today I was having the best flight of my AH career. I had 4 bogeys on my six and ended up getting 4 kills. I was rtb' to rearm since I was out of ammo and fuel. I set down and here comes this noob in a jug strafing the runway. He was spraying and praying and got a lucky hit that killed me when I was almost stopped. I checked his score b/c I have never seen his name I was his 2nd kill in his whole damn career. Please HTC implement something in the TA that you have to pass to be able to enter the MA's.
-
What does the "noob" have to practice? Gun Accuracy?
-
I would have done the same thing if I sow you on the runway.
-
No mach it doesn't make me a vet i think that is what I said. I just find it lame that this is how the new guys are being taught and encouraged to fly really is lame. They should be taught how to dogfight not this lame crap.

sorry, read it wrong

Dude, you got vulched, so what if it was by a n00b? If it was Shawk instead would you advise him to go to the TA? Maybe you should go to the TA and have Snailman cover basic SA with you. It's not that hard to avoid getting vulched, especially on landing, unless you're deadstick.

This should teach you not to 'set down.' I see that you wanted to re-arm, but if there are cons in the area, this is a bad idea.
Land without gear and .ef as soon as you screech to a stop.

That's what I used to do when there bad guys loitering around waiting to vulch me on landing.
ack-ack

:rofl If I don't decide not to play until the 21st of the month, I'll be damned if i'll go to the TA and take a test first. I'll log off and go fishin' instead.

What is this "Greed kills more than red guys" that you are speaking of? :D

No problem mach <S>. I was waiting on the flames about sa. Guess they didn't read the part where I had 4 cons on my six and I ended up getting 4 kills. I think i have some damn good SA. He was the only con came in at 10k and vulched when there were plenty of other target that is what is so damn lame instead of trying to have a fight he wanted to vulch a guy that was landing. As for SHawk I can't speak for him, but I think he would of went for a fight instead of that crap.

Lmfao!
Are you kidding? Kiiling guys on the runway?
Thats a score boys bread and butter! :aok

He didn't have ammo or fuel.
-
I never,,,, I mean never land with gear... ok not "never" I rearm once or twice a year.
Try this, it's fun: land with out gear but do it so you slide into the hangar..... good stuff
-
I try to slide into the indestructible. That way i avoid getting shot and also give the guys in the Hangar selecting their planes a good laugh :lol
-
Did you stay in the TA for a month before you jumped into the MA?
I doubt it. Bet you were in there before your two free weeks were up.

I can see why Cajun is upset by being vultched. Earlier today I went rook and happened to up from the same base as him. Before I knew it, Cajun and I were surrounded by no less than 8 enemies. I had 4 trailing me, and Cajun was down on the deck turning with 4 of them. Amazingly, he killed all of them. After the 4 on me were dead, I rtb and came into the field about the same time as him. As I was just touching down on the runway, I saw a Jug coming in straight at us, allready spraying his guns from 2K out. I gave my plane full rudder and snapped my gears off on purpose so I'd stop sooner and managed to tower out, unfortunately Cajun wasn't so lucky. I'd be pretty furious myself, Cajun definately has the right to be unhappy.
-
I can understand him being mad, but suggesting that the 'noob's' should be required to go to the TA before coming to the MA is rediculous. Do you think that if they go to the TA for a while that they will have all of a sudden have a moment of clarity, and decide not to vulch people. There's guys that's been on here for years and that is one of their Grade-A manuvers.
IMHO, the TA cannot teach a person class.
-
Ok I think I was just a lil aggrivated at the noob. Sorry for the whine guys <S> see ya'll lata.
Oh yeah Buster I got NATAS u didn't lol <S> man hope to see u rook again.
-
yea, landing without gear = no need to fiddle around with breaks and you stop quicker.
-
I do think new guys should be required to go to the TA for atleast an hour for a crash course in AH - but we all have our own opinions
-

no, it's there choice
I remember about two-two and a half years ago (or something like that) when i first downloaded aces high, i spend a few hours flying offline. Since my 1st K/D radio was 0.06, i don't really think it helped me much. How ever when I started flying online my K/D increased to 1.20 within 3 tours. I never went to the training arena, never asked anyone for help, and did everything my self the first 3 tours or so, did not even type a single word on any of the channels.
-
You guy's are looking at this all wrong, I don't look at his request as a bad thing but a good thing. I think that it's a good idea for a new person to have to spend say 8 hours in the TA before your allowed in the MA. I think it would benefit a new player, "but" it would take a full time training staff and I don't think AH has that. But I still think it would be a good thing for the future, instead of sitting there watching new players going round and round on the runway and don't even have the experience to answer a vox or text message.

lol read a book you think its only in game guys went for easy kills. lol chuck yeager was famous for attacking planes already smoking or going down.
most told u SA because if you looked at map before trying to rearm. you wouldv'e saw enemy near and go out of plane. This man might have had someone ask him to deack base, or kill ord or many other targets and he sees u on runway or rearm pad kills u. its only your fault no one else's fault for your death. btw wtg newbie u passed first badge of honor getting under guys skin cause he made mistake and died.
-
:salute Cajunn thanks for the help and understanding.
-
Lol Rod u should read before posting. I noticed he was there I already stated that. He dove in from like 10k to attack the guy landing and passed up a crap load of enmy cons to get to me. He wasn't trying to deack or take ord out he was going for an easy kill instead of a fight. Why you ask b/c he is a noob and would get killed in a fight so instead of trying to learn how to dogfight he goes for the easy kill. Nice attempt of trying to understand what happened.
-
"There is nothing honorable about being a fighter pilot"
-
Ok why does everybody think I am talking about honor. What aggrivated me was instead of getting in a fight b/c he knew he would die he goes for an easy kill. That is why I wish HTC would implement some form of training before new guys are able to go to the MA. Maybe if he knew how to fight he would go for a fight not an easy lame kill, perhaps he would have done the same thing b/c he is a lame pilot I dunno. I believe that if guys are taught to fight they would. I believe that there would be alot less ho'ing, picking, and gang banging going on. I think ppl would actually would try to have a dogfight instead of being lame skilless pilots. That is my opinion.

What's the problem with going for a easy kill?
Or maybe he was just saving his fuel or ammo, ever thought of it that way?

I'm with Coogn on this one! LCCajun, plain and simple, you got caught with your pants down -- and YOU are the one who dropped 'em!
And you never answered Coog's question -- how much time did you spend in the TA or offline before you dared enter the MA? I spent a month in the off-line practice because I was afraid of being embarrassed. It helped a little. And the only thing a noob will learn in the TA is that they need to figure out how to HO since they were told not to!
If I was afflicted with an attack of stupidity severe enough to get me vulched by someone with a ZERO rank, I sure as hell wouldn't admit it --let alone publicize it!
-
You still had alternatives. You could have landed inside a building or if you didn't you could have belly landed. Then depending on fuel, you could have dodged him just once and landed.
-
As for as me in the TA I go in and out. I still go in there. I went with my whole squad about 3 weeks ago. I like the TA especially when there are ppl in there that I can learn from which is just about everybody there. I am not saying there is anything wrong with taking an easy kill but you should be able to get kills in a fight also. He didn't even attempt to get in a fight b/c he couldn't win one if he did. If he was trying to save ammo why would he be spraying and praying like he did. Almost everybody that has posted in here has missed the point.

If I would have seen you on the ground and would not care about the AAA, i would have killed you as well.
Almost everybody that has posted in here has missed the point.
Was your point that you killed the 4 guys on your 6? If it was, WTG, was no need to mention the getting killed on the ground part.
-
My point is that instead of trying to get in a fight b/c he would lose he dove to a base bypassed alot of other cons to kill a landing one. That in my opinion is lame. I think that if had had some training maybe he would have went for a fight instead of being lame.
-
lets see it is 1945 and the luftwaffe are desperate, hunted and harassed everywhere they go.
No bases are safe from attack and P47 pilots make several strafing attacks at airfields. Sounds pretty historically immersive to me.
I've had that happen to me cajun by good, experienced sticks looking for revenge, it doesn't really matter whether he was new or not. Only thing you can do is laugh it off then get the fastest plane you can find re-up and hunt him down for revenge on the revenge killer ad infinitum. ;)
if he died in the ack after killing you then that is just bad luck.
-
give it up man I guess you have to be CoonA55 to understand it :rofl
:salute
-
:rofl I guess man :salute.
-
You still serving and protecting ?
-
Yeap at work now waiting to go home got 4 more hours
-
cool I got off at 6 tonight, but got 5, 24 hour shifts left :cry
-
I got one more night shift then go to days for 2 weeks. It has been really quiet for some reason I guess it is a good thing jsut makes for one boring donut night for me.
-
yep, yep I haven't been to a fire in oh I don't know 3 months now hope I remember how to aim the hose :lol, but we are waiting for the big one it always happens that way.
-
Yeah I miss firefighting only thing I dont' miss is being a truckie. They only let me on the engine for a lil while after I got out of the academy. Kinda stupid being I am 6'2 240lbs. I actually talked to the fiance bout going back to the fire dept, not sure though.
-
Yeah I'm a Captain now so the rookies get all the fun now, but I go off duty and pull rank :aok and the old man can still out work all those youngsters. Firefighters aren't what they use to be, its all about the glory to them and not about the rush like it was for me. :D
-
i loved the rush I have a pic that I will try to send u it is of me hanging inverted 100ft off the ground off the bucket truck I was on. I miss hanging off of ropes lol.
-
LOL, yep got to love it....night man I'm going to bed, stay safe brother! :salute
-

+1 2 or 3
I think it could only help someone and would absolutely show HTC's commitment to helping welcome new players into the game.
How many two weekers do you think leave the game because it's just simply to much to take in without help. Many two weeker's hardly get a chance to even realize that there is a TA where someone might be in there and willing to help.
I've been to the TA plenty and only occasionally see a trainer listed on the roster.
2 weekers should have a choice i agree and their first screen should direct them to the TA for those 2 weeks. If they decline the TA the DA and mains should open up to them as further choices. Make sense?
-
oh damn you can land with gear down
-
oh damn you can land with gear down
Yep, but you need to be a tad slower than your normal approach, full flaps help. It is the fastest way to get safely back to the tower in an emergency. But your ground crew won't be too happy about it :)
Badboy
-
No need to do anything to the new guys Sir. You flat out got caught with your pants down. Vultching is the sport of Kings!
-
Vultching is the sport of Kings!
Proving the point I was about to make. There are plenty of long-time players who will vulch you, it hasn't got much to do with being new.
I would have been steamed, too, were I you.

Never cared for that part! You leave the FD for the PD?
-
Yeah Slash I thought I would like being a cop more then fire fighting. Now I realize I had alot more fun and got a better rush when I was a fire fighter. Don't get me wrong I like being a cop, just kinda missing going into smoked out buildings, not being able to see sh*t and spending the whole shift at a fire. You know what they say there is a pyro in every firefighter lol. :salute
-
Can't argue with that one.... But wait a sec, SHawk vulches? NO WAY!!!

I think the more important part of the original post.... Said whiner doesn't bring up the fact that he/she acted rather newbish by landing at a field under attack. Know better for next time and magically this thread never exists.
ANd it's Newb, not Noob..... SHawk is a noob :D, the new guy was a newb. Totally different.
-
That's what I used to do when there bad guys loitering around waiting to vulch me on landing.
ack-ack

I always thought it was optional :noid

cajun...no matter if they been flyin a month or few years, your gonna find that there are dweebs like that in the game. nothing can be done about this except for to grin and bare it. just up another plane and keel them...if they run..chase them down and then keel them. nevertheless dont let them have the satisfaction of landing their vulch keels!
-

Pyros make the best firefighters :D
Just started the PD academy last month so I can move to an investigator roll somewhere down the line. It's an all firefighter class so we are getting plenty of guff from the instructors. Apparently all we do is sleep and eat ice cream in recliners all day. I had no idea. :huh
:salute
-
Hell I miss being able to lay in the recliner all day at the station lol. I remember when one of the fire dept Captain's went to the pd academy so he could carry a firearm. He carried it for about 1 month the firefighters were the one giving him grief on it lol. GL on the academy. :salute
-
Oh yeah Slash I forgot to tell ya I was in my unit driving around the city when I noticed a column of black smoke. Naturally I went to investigate turned out to be an apartment complex on fire. It is kinda weird b/c my old truck was there made me miss it more when I seen everybody with their bunker gear and scba's on. At least I got to chat with a few old buddies. I still chat with a few of my buddies the FD training center is two blocks from the PD ok that is it <S> be safe.
-
Man, that would be kind of tough not getting to play at an apartment fire :D
Stay safe man :salute

Some folks still don't appreciate the art of the vulch.

SA played a part in your death, but greed played the biggest part. You were not satisfied with landing the four kills from your four on one engagement, greed got the best of you and your greed killed you.
