Search Youtube for Will Stroud if you're into BMX stuff at all. He's not a rider so much anymore, but one heck of a cameraman. He's also my cousin. rar.

So I watch this vid and say hey that looks easy. I hop on my walmart issue mountain bike that I purchased used at a pawn shop and go out to make history. Long story short I had to type this with a straw.
-
I'm glad you guys enjoy my bike skillz.
-
Wow, wonder how many broken bones it took to get that good.
-
That is just amazing.
-
Wow he makes it look so easy.

Can't imagine hitting jumps like that on a bmx bike. I'd hit jumps three times as big on a dirt bike, but at least I have suspension. I have no idea how they find the pedals after doing tailwhips and stuff. Do they tighten up the crank or something?
-
I'm sure that dude is all muscle...it takes an incredibly strong core to keep balance like that.
-
For a tailwhip on the ground I know you stop it with the leg you didn't use to kick it around.
As for finding the pedals in some of those mid-air ones, especially the backfilp tailwhip...Pure skill and practice would be my guess.

Nope, the cranks aren't tightened. Most the time, though, if you have sealed bearings in the BB and a relatively firm chain tension, the cranks don't spin around too much.
This video is a bit more like the first in that it's street riding.
If you think the OP was impressive.... watch this.

Keep in mind that in most of the shots, this guy doesn't have any brakes on his bike at all.
Pretty crazy stuff. Pretty much all of the stuff in this video was completely unthinkable when I started riding around 7 or 8 years ago.

This is funny.
Josh Stricker, American rider in Australia (right outside the venue that I just saw Dylan Moran at, actually) riding drunk and trying to hammer a gap after no sleep.
Hahaha.
Bit of carnage.

But this is what riding is all about, I reckon.

I'd still ride if I had a place like this to ride....
-
Haha, few good crashes here.

... and this is why drinking 3 pints at lunchtime then deciding to hit the jumps in a crappy borrowed lid is a bad idea

Emotional vid, the first one, maybe that is just me. Childhood that has past. Empathy and pride in his skill, determination and fearless nature.
