I'm looking to either join a squad or create one that performs realistic, high altitude bombing missions (over 25,000 feet) against strats, cities, ect. Anyone interested?
-
Well firstly:
- Real bomber raids rarely exceeded 25,000ft
- There isn't any PURE bomber squadron. There are however, very few that actually perform what you have listed. They fly fighters but they are in fact dedicated bomber squadrons within the game atm.
Now, you have the 100th BGH, 484th BG, & 457th BG in Aces High currently. Those are the only 3 dedicated bomber squadrons that I know of at the moment. I've noticed the 100th BG slacking in their heavies though. I'd recommend looking for recruitment with the 457th BG. They are a great bunch of pilots who enjoy the realistic aspect of the game as well as having a good ol fun time overall.
They can be located here:

Best of luck sir. :salute
Edit:
I haven't seen the 484th around in a while but I'm sure they are still active. 457th & 100th BG's are both currently active in game so I'd personally recommend you fly with all 3 bomber groups to get a feel and choose the one that best suits your needs.

Over 25,000 feet? You must have a lot of laundry to do. :)

I love putting together realistic high alt buff missions. Not many have the patience for that kind of thing. But, fights still do happen up high and it ends up being a lot of fun.

Need i show you film of 30k raids. :D
-
REAL? Check with your local air base.
-
Castle, you'll find players who also like high alt bomber missions. I'm one of them.
-
Check with the Dickweed Squadron. Loser101 in game is a good friend I met at the 2003 Con and one of the regular members.
-
Thanks for all the info guys. I wasnt trying to trash talk any buff pilots out there, I'm just tire of running missions for squadrons I've been in recently and never making it to the target half the time cause they didn't want to take the extra time to get to altitude. I also enjoy the fact that I can start one of these high alt flights, set the autoclimb and proceed to run down the block for a twelve pack mid flight. Hell, half of these missions I take off sober and land hammered to the wall!
-
I love a good historical bomber run. The 484'th are a great bunch of guys and great to fly with.
-
I use to run some awesome and amazingly historical raids back in my hay day. Ask Bombrich and a couple others. :devil
-
Yep, they were lotsa fun. If we could only get a Russian bomber we could run authentic Russian ones. And dont forget JU-88s for historical missions either. They are fine bombers, "flying against Spits of course", escorted by 109s.
Which leads me to say that my only interest is flying authentic bomber operations. I get no pleasure flying ones with 6 countries represented in either force. To see 24s, 17s, escorted by 51s, and Jugs, being attacked by 109s and butcher-birds, is a thing of beauty.
The Lancaster is another winner up high. The KI-67 is a great raid bomber.

Yes, your hour long HQ raids. hehe. :t
-
The 484th is on break for who knows how long. Cant go wrong with either the 100th or the 457th or The Haze as far as historical missions go.
Thinking on resubbing here soon.
-
100th and 475th are a good choice.
-
Check with the Dickweed Squadron.
These are some great guys. I highly recommend The Dickweeds... As opposed to the random dickweeds you will find in game...
-
:rofl

Shoot me an PM.
We (Dickweed Heavy Bomber Group) fly for the Bishops only and have our squad nights on Tues. Nights.
Shoot me a PM or find me online and come fly with us.
We do realistic missions, have great squads that escort us, and usually have a knack for bringing up a ton of cons and coming home guns smoking and empty.
We are also known for flying world tours in FS in real world weather and time.

Contact a fellow named "AKAK". He frequently flies bombers over 25,000 feet, and sometimes beyond that.

DHBG (especially if you are a purist like me) or 100th. :aok

OK so I've sent Emails to both the 457th and Dickweed HBG. Both of them sound like good squadrons but I'm a little curious about Dickweeds..... umm.. how do I put this... "rank structure". It sound like they try and maintain a realistic chain of command even down to having a training and ops division. I've got no real problems with that and I think its kind of a cool idea, it just reminds me of some squads I've heard of where the Squad leader had a hard time separating a video game from reality and had some delusion that he WAS in fact a real officer in the military. I don't think that I've mentioned this before but I am actually a Staff Sergent in the USAF so you can imagine how well I got along with those types.

Castle,
I am the acting CO of the 100th Bomb Group (H). You are more than welcome to come fly with us and see how you like it. We fly only Rook, and primarily the B-17 on our strategic ops. We do a good bit in fighters, but are primarily a bomber squadron.
We have a loose chain of command, but, if you look at the ranks, we are zeroing in on being #1 bombing squad for the 4th month in a row! We aren't openly recruiting right now but we always welcome new buff pilots we can both teach and learn from. But I'll warn you, we are a rowdy bunch.
Look for us in game on Rook Channel 126 and talk to any of the guys with a 100 on the front of their name. Looking forward to talking with you.
100Hooch
p.s. I should mention I think we are the only BGH in a relationship with our real life counterparts!

Too long. :cry Time to get back into the saddle again and blow stuff up. :t

Alright, thanks again for all the good info. I actually just got signed on with the CLAIM JUMPERS (might not have been exactly what I was looking for but they're still a good bunch) and it sounds like a few of them are interested in the whole long range bombing thing too so we'll see what I can do with them. But even still, I wouldn't mind flying a few missions with you Hooch.
-
Look up Hardlqr, he is CO of the UNFORGIVEN Bomb wing!! Don't really know what they do, but they sure have allot of laughs and FUN :aok

I hate to burst your bubble but they take anyone...They do have over 100 members in 7 or 8 wings.......
-
Just a suggestion... try to find a group that does not care about points or ranking. In this game it means nothing at all as to how good or bad a group is. Look for groups that have fun on thier little missions. Otherwise you may as well not relax and play this game..... you should just go to work. Good Luck! <S>

Tapakeg, I'd like to wing up with you guys on one of your Tuesday squad runs ..that possible?

You should have to look no further THE DICKWEEDS are a great bunch of guys :salute. When my squad flew bish we would escort these guys, they filll the air with bombers, keep tight formations and go to alt on every occasion. This is a GREAT SQUAD :aok
-
A real bomber group? Guess we're disqualified, we're a bunch of fakes. ;)
-
The 80th flies bombers. Just last night there was 9 of us up in our B-38s.
Enough to make some folks think S.A.P.P. was active.
-
Bomber Squadrons are a start. Hell Precision started as such, unfortuantley you get better at other things. You adapt and get better. Bottom line is there are many very good bombers, and the best ones in the game will come in 14k and knock your Large airfield down with 2 17's. Approach angles and a good plan is more key. 30K bomber is a pain in the arse, if you do it, there wont be alot of resistance, dont get bored.
-
there was 5 of us flying along stalking a 6 formations of B17s the other week at 25k, as we moved in just out of there guns range, they were 1k away, they had all closed in the formation nice and tight, and made it pretty difficult for us attackers to some of them out, but whizzing around them just out of gun range to get a good run of them must have been fun for the b17s...well..or neverous, I made some good dives on them, a few hits but I did not create any damage...then on another pass a stray bullet gave me an oil leak.
but it was a great moment, Its just a shame its so damn hard attacking a bomber group when they are all close and tight :devil
-
You need a few pointers..... starting with do not rush :)
-
You're so correct 4Deck
You have to strike a balance between coming in low enough to attract something up for a bit of a fight and high enough to get the job done.
30K plus miisions are good in that they drive the interceptors nuts trying to get at you, but there is a limit.
I think we (the 100th) spend a fair amount of time in fighters as well to break the pattern.
Buffs are great, but like ice cream there's only so much you can eat.
-
I don't run an exclusive bomber squad, but look for me & the BOPs to throw something together complete with escorts Friday nights and here & there on weekends. Missions are posted for Bish to join. I love B17's. Just be patient while in the mission. It is preferable to see a mission succeed from take-off, to target, to returning home, with a good firefight at some point in the show.

-
but I'm a little curious about Dickweeds..... umm.. how do I put this... "rank structure"
We do have a CO, an EX. O, and an ops officer but trust me, there is no saluting or "Sir" calling. It is basically so someone makes sure squad nights go as smooth as possible. We do have target and formation assignments and these are the guys to make the assignment. We don't just want to bomb anything, we want to make sure everyone has a target, and every target gets hit.
The Trainers are just the designated people we wing up with new guys in the game. If you can bomb and hit a target, no prob, you are definitely on your own, but if you are new to the game and not sure about calibrating, autoclimb, or radios and stuff we have someone there to help.
Trust me, (Ex Army guy here) no formations, Sir calling or burdening rules.
999000....................... ......HECK YEAH, give me a PM.
-
Dickweed HBG (Bish) are very good, probably the best formation's ive seen when we have escorted thier B17 missions
Suggest you also look into joining special events and get with a bomber group, those missions tend to be a bit more organized
then your typical Main arena bomber missions
