On my old computer when I looked at video settings, I had the option to "Preload in system mem" and "preload skins" Under the textures section. How do I make those options available? I have my setting at 1024, res at 1900 x 1200 and 60 fps.

If they are not available, then your computer isn't strong enough to run them. You can try dropping the texture size down to 512, of 256.

How much system memory do you have?
-
Its a new comp and is strong enogh. It has 6gb ram, nvidia gts 250 1gb and everything else is top of the line. Its vista 64 bit, could that be the problem?

Have you downloaded the hi-res skin pack to have something to pre-load since you are running at a high resolution now?
You might also try refreshing your cache by deleting the contents of your HTC/Aces High II/cache file and letting it rebuild when you log on again.

I downloaded the hi-res pack and installed it into my Aces High folder, but I don't think it is working. On my old computer the textures looked much better and I had the hi-res pack installed. I don't know if I did something wrong, but I tried it 3 times. Just to make sure, how am I supposed to install the Hi-res pack? Also, how do I know it is installed correctly? Is there a folder that only shows up once it is installed?

Hey just noticed your in Lowell, I'll be in Woburn and Salem Friday.
Vista is a weird animal. Its recommended that you DO NOT install the game in the "default" location because vista moves crap around on you. So if you installed it in the default location the hirez file may or may not be in the right spot.
If you have installed the game in a location C:\Games\Aces High, then navigate there, and click into the cashe folder then into one of the plane folders, if you have a 1024 TCA file as well as the 512 then it is installed.
The 250 should be good enough for you to have the bells and whistles, IF its installed right. Make sure by running the Dxdiag and see what the computer is running.
Thats all I have right now, good luck!

In the cache folder, all of the plane folders are in another folder called hires, so I guess it's installed. It just doesnt look like it is. The Preload stuff under textures still isn't showing up. :(

I ran the Dxdiag and there were no problems found. Thanks for the help, I'm still trying. :salute

Ya I live about 30 minutes South of Worcester.
Thats where vista is giving me fits. I have XP, and my hires in stalled like this C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\cache In the cache folder I have folders for each plane, and in each plane folder I have xxxx-1_512.TCA and a xxxx-1_1024.TCA So I'm not sure if your are right.
Also, with the dxdiag, what did it list as your video card? If it didn't list the 250, then it isn't installed right and that would be your problem.
