Title: LVTs at Ports(more to then this)
Post by: Warchief on April 27, 2009, 07:39:41 AM
How many times have you gone in for a capture on a Port and the CV respawns lets and LVT and brings ack up? Yes this but isnt a whine.

This is one thing that needs to be changed or something done to eliminate an LVT spawning in when a CV is down. The big issue here is regardless of how many people attack a port as long as someone keeps spawning  in act comes up as soon as they drop there field supplies. You can even whipe the entire fleet but you still can up LVTs or PT Boats. If this was applied to airfield, towns, or anything then the map would never change because one guy will set there with Field supplies to keep bringing up the ack.

This is something that should be addressed one way or another. I can understand the thought behind it to make the ports harder to capture but if stays the same then it is actually better not to move your CV because you can never lose it form a port as long as people are able to up LVTs without restriction.

My two approaches to is this
1)LVT can not bring ack up by dropping field supplies.
2) Once your cruiser and CV are dead you cant up LVTs anymore. You would still be able to up PT Boats not LVTs

It is a 'gamey' aspect of the game I'll admit.  All sides play on the same field though.  Another thing to consider:

When the CV is positioned at the port, it is removed as an offensive weapon, as it is reduced to a defensive role only.

Also, when the CV is killed, it re-spawns to some preset location.  I think that reset location rarely coincides, if ever, with the dry spawn location.  In other words, the CV then has to be moved to the new location. (albiet relatively close.)

So, although it takes herculean efforts to capture a port like this, it is not impossible.  You have to kill the cv, reduce the port, and have a bomber on station to kill it again when it spawns.

All that being said, I like your suggestions.  I think the 'dry spawn' ability should just be removed.

It's the benefit of leaving the cv at the port instead of having it out capturing your bases.  As I see it, it's a compromise.  Take the cv out to sea and use it offensively or leave it at port where all you can do is protect the port.

The simple answer is don't waste your time trying to capture a port with a cv sitting there for resupply.

It must really suck that you can't take a hoard and level a base and capture it like everywhere else.

It's all about the timing. Most of the time captures are thwarted by taking too long to get the field secure and applying troops. If you get the CV and Cruiser down you need a force to concentrate on the LVT's while troops are applied. The resupply by LVT is troubling and they should have to get to the base to deploy it.

I think simply removing the "dry spawn" would fix this.

On the flip side, if the cv is sitting right at its' port and you capture the port, no one has to hunt for the cv to get it too. All of the dirt farmers should know that.   :aok
