Hello there! New to Aces High!
Pretty much got the hang of learning offline, with the exception of being unable to save my customized stick settings. The buttons I assign only last during the time I have Aces High running. My settings work fine in-flight until I exit the application and re-load. Then it goes back to defaults.
I've looked through the multiple menus and perhaps missed something?
Until I figure this out, I won't be signing up for the free 2 week trial.
Thanks!

Sounds like you are running some type of anti-virus or file security program that is preventing the game from writting its configuration files.
Basically, something in your computer has made our game files read-only.
-
Are you using Vista or XP? What type of security software are you using (Norton, McAfee, etc...)?
-
If installed in the default locations in Vista, these types of issues crop up. Try installing in C:\Games or something other than the default.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 (I think) with 'Avast!' antivirus.
Interesting concept Skuzzy.

If you have the money for it, buy a subscription for either ESET Smart Security 4 or NOD32 Antivirus 4. Either one keeps your computer more secure while using much less resources than Norton, AVG, or Avast. Another bonus as far as I'm aware, NOD (ESET Smart security included) doesn't embed itself into system files such as Norton and McAffee do.

If you, however, can't pay for any of the two ESET products. Simply disabling all of your avast services should help you out while flying.

So, long story short I should disable Avast so that my new stick button settings will permanently save? I figure I can then re-enable Avast afterword. Will try this tomorrow.
-
Yes, you should be able to re-enable Avast after you stop using AH. One thing, when you disable Avast make sure the game files within the settings folder (C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\settings\) are not set to read-only! The way to check this is to right-click one of the files, select, "Properties," then check to see if, "Read Only" is selected. If it is, uncheck it and press OK. None of the setting files should be set to read-only.

Thanks,
Before disabling Avast I noticed none of the files are 'read only'. Hmm, odd. Anyway, will proceed now to turn off Avast and attempt to see if AH saves my button maps
