Time to enact some 'car-control' legislation. Maybe they could register all vehicles, require you to have a license to own one, and require training in non-violent dispute resolution before allowing you to purchase one. Of course many think that only the police and military should have automobiles....

If you ever had to spend hours in a Department Motor Vehicle administration like I had to last week. You'd treasure driving. :furious :D

Innocent people died and this thread was started as a troll. Classy.
-
The footage I saw was pretty brutal.
I saw someone get dragged under a car yesterday, so it was a great day for people vs cars for me.

Last time I checked automobiles had other essential uses than killing.

Not quite as a troll. Actually it was sarcasm. After the recent incidents involving firearms the knee-jerk reaction has been to over regulate or ban them. Cars kill more people every year than firearms, usually accidentally, but sometimes on purpose.

I was there

Still no indication as to why this guy did it Bug? I know with him dying will make it impossible to really find the motive but did he leave anything behind that at least sheds some light as to why?
ack-ack
-
Ill try, The guy was a 38 years old really normal looking guy with no criminal record.
And it seems that everybody who knew him didn't see it coming.
He was alone and had recently lost his job he couldn't pay his rent but correctly quit his rented living.
Rumors say he wanted to show the defence sucked.
He probably suicides himself making a statement or something.
The way he did it settels me some question marks.
Noway he would really succeed his goal in hurting the royal family sitting in a touring bus with his Suzuki Swift.
Dough the damage done is pretty dramatic.
His last statement is that he said the attack was against the royal family.
Anyway i can never understand the reasons he took 6 people who just wanted to have a good day.
At the moment i was just 400 meters away i stopped there because i find i reasonable place to make photographs.
For the same count i could have walked further.
My dad was 60 meters from it.
What really was a nice day ended very raw.
-
Glad you're ok Bug. I got a sick feeling just looking at the videos and pictures online, I can't imagine actually being there.
I could be wrong but from the pictures I saw of the guy afterward, it looks like something he hit caved in the front of his windshield and roof and that may be what killed him. The guy got off way too easy IMO.
-
There was a picture floating around 4chan/b/ for a while (going through the usual stages...) that showed the entire windshield smashed in in the shape of a person. The upper metal above the windshield caved into his forehead and face.
Being the idiots that most people there are, they thought it was entertaining to make jokes about the little girl's hair flying back as she skidded in a sitting position across the pavement. All of the pictures pointing out that none of the guards were even looking or moving to look near the car as it rammed the people certainly made me wonder, however.

The day has lost its innocence.
I bet American people find our security to low.
Especially when u compare this with a visit of the president.
But until now we did never had such problems.
I have 2 kids I'm glad they where not there looking at it.
-
Bug,
This is a tragedy and I am sorry that it has happened. You and your nation have my condolences for the losses you suffered.
No security is 100% effective and secure. There are always vulnerabilities and that includes presidential or royal motorcades. If some one wanted to expend the effort a way is fairly easy to find to breach the security since you can't stop everything all the time.

I am hazarding a guess here: They simply got in the way of his suicide/statement and he ran through them.
Glad the dude died. Now you wont have to bother with him.
Srry about those other folks who were killed. Life can really suck sometimes for no damned reason.
