Title: Thoughts and Prayers for an AH Family.
Post by: Shifty on May 02, 2009, 11:12:54 AM: Tomcat21's five month old son Aiden was born with serious heart condition. Tomcat21 who is a US Army soldier was brought back a few months ago from his duties in Iraq to be with his wife and family, but will be deployed to Afghanistan soon. Aiden had a successful open heart surgery this past Wednesday. He came through like a trooper but is still in ICU. The little guy still has a lot of battles ahead. I ask you to keep Tomcat21 "Ed", his wife Dawn, their young son Aiden along with the rest of thier family in your thoughts, prayers and wishes.

Not to divert or redirect any attention and with all due respect. We had our youngest daughter go through NICU. Just letting you know, i know where you're coming from. Hang in there, sounds as though he's coming along just fine.

Post by: TOMCAT21 on May 13, 2009, 01:25:35 PM: Aiden is doing well...only thing keeping him from going home is the one chest tube...still draining fluid out...they want it to be last than 10ml before they will remove tube and discharge him..he is gaining weight...on a lighter note he gave my wife a little scare when the monitors suddenly flatlined and she looked over at him and he was playing with the leads....that is all...thanks all ..again.. :salute

Glad to hear it Tomcat. Those little ones are tough. My littlest has had surgery 4 times so far in his 9 months. He's a real fighter too. I do believe it's almost harder on the parents then it is the little one :)

Matthew's 9 months old, but he started small, under 5 pounds. My wife was in Liberia volunteering as a nurse at a hospital there and found him at 9 days old abandoned and left to die. She decided that wasn't going to happen. He was born with a bi-lateral cleft lip and pallete so he couldn't be fed with a bottle very well. She brought him home. He has a G-tube in his stomach so he gets most of his calories that way. He's had surgery to repair the lip but still has the pallete open so sucking on a bottle is hard work. So he still gets fed often, just via the stomach tube. He's had a few surgeries for other things too so he's a bit behind the curve.

That and he likes Mustangs. Don't know where I went wrong :)
