i have the trackclip4 pro and am enjoying it, was wondering if anyone upgraded from 4 to 5 and noticed a difference?
-
:furious I just got the 4 about 2 months ago!!!!!!!

That dude is responsible for me going nuts on these cartoon airplanes, can i sue him for ruining my life ? :devil
I watched those vids he had on Armed Assault, and finaly after a long persuasion (of my wallet) i went and got that thingy with that another plastic thingy attached to my headphone-thingy.
It's been great a couple of years since then... so in another thought, should i sue him for having too much fun and meeting alot of new people while doing that ? :salute

I bought a TrackIR and tried it for a few days and then put it up for good. I just didn't like it at all. Maybe this new one will be better. I am curious to see what you guys think about it.

I think you'd have to try it more than just for a few of days. I found it to be a pain for a good 2 or more weeks before I settled. Now I'll never go back to hat switches.
-
Two week minimum to give it a fair shot. A month would be better.
-
and when you make adjustments to your profile, make small ones, one at a time, and try them for a while each time or you will NEVER get it set right.
-
Just for giggles (and being a somewhat unnaturally curious old bugger) I'll d/l the software for 5 on my week off (starts at 7am tomoro morning yay me :D). I'll post my impressions on it after a bit of testing.
With track ir, the more time you give yourself to get used to it, the better, and definitely do what wingnutt suggests when making adjustments, little at a time, and test, test test (as I've come to find out, having completely screwed mine up lol (yes, I made a copy first))

HomeBoy, Have you tried it out yet? ;)
-
it doesn't go well with red wine
-
I don't think affordable and good quality VR headsets are that far away. Currently, (imho) the rear view in AH with TrackIR is not great and not worth the money.
-
i downloaded 5 software to go with my four and u can set it great. looking up, i see all the way to my headrest, looking back i see around the headrest. all it takes is small movements, once your brain gets used to it it feels like you are looking back. way better than padlock and hatswitches, IMHO

I'm waiting for Vuzix to put out a new version of these:
http://www.vuzix.com/iwear/products_vr920.html
The resolution on the above is too low for my tastes (640x480 on each screen), but the idea is so tantalizing that I almost bought them in spite of that fact.
So basically, this would simulate being in the aircraft in terms of your viewpoints. You would turn your head a full 180 degrees to check your six instead of just moving your head a bit. Also, with a nVidia graphics card and the proper drivers, you will actually have depth perception. The last part is what really got me interested in them, it's called stereographics for those interested.
Other problems with these current ones is that they don't track as many axis' of movement that TrackIR does, but I'm hoping that when (if) a newer model comes out that they will add more axis'.
EDIT:
Found the new one! Comes out in the fall, didn't realize this was going to have the ability to have 6DoF like TrackIR and stereographics! Pretty damn cool if you ask me. You also have the ability to see through the lenses if you need to... so it can actually act as a heads-up display for someone who has information they need at their fingertips.

I had trackir and sold it (read: gave it away). Reason? No decent headset for under a few $K.
If anyone buys that new headset please give us a review. If I remember I tried some Sony's but the
640X res was bad.
IMHO if you can put together a great headset with a trackir then you have IMMERSION!

ps I should get another trackir just to answer noobs questions. I tend to forget the different setups from time to time.

OK, can we get a bit more information and details regarding how much functional difference there is between version 5 beta and the final 4.1.037 version? All I see is the addition of support to TIR5 cameras, Norwegian language and new software interface. While the interface has changed 5.0 doesn't appear to provide any additional functionality to TIR4 cameras (unlike the change to 4.1.029 which completely changed the motion algorithms.)

Surprised to see in the list of supported games that my company's game is listed there as well. Though, I don't know of anyone that plays FFXI using these.
