Yesterday my wife asked if she could fly with me. :huh Is it a good idea to let the wife get involved? :uhoh I am kinda flattered and puzzled that she wants to fly with me. Normally she is firing highly accurate 88MM rounds at me while I play. Does anyone have any experience with the wife ack suddenly turning friendly? Can this situation turn out to be a disaster? I am also wondering what a good handle would be for her if everything works out. I was thinking that "Orange" would go nice with "Grape." Its easy to read so people won't have a hard time giving check 6's. Is there anything that I should avoid doing, like tuning to squad channel while she is on? :noid
-
See, now if you were like me, that would end really badly - as I'd assiduously hunt her down and keep killing her, especially after an argument (i'm childish like that :lol)
On the upside, you can always then invite her to play whenever you want to get on.
I'm definitely not the right person to answer :D
Hope it goes well fella,
Wurzel

"Nuts" Would go great with Grape.(or GrapeNut) :D If I could get my wife to play it would greatly increase my available time on the game without Flak. She watched me the other day and said it made her dizzy the way you have to look around. You could send her for supplies or as Bait but you may have to tune her out after awhile.
Good Luck! :aok
-
Sounds like she wants to spend more time with you. So either let her play or spend less time on AH.

In a nut shell.

+1. I'd say let let her play. :aok

Well...speaking from a woman's point of view...I LOVE FLYING!! :rock
I watched my boyfriend play for about a year and finally got set up to play with him.
We have a lot of fun, and he makes a great wingman also :)
I say go for it as long as you have a lot of patience to teach her how to play.
Now that I look back on it, Ziff was a really good teacher!
I remember asking him how to do something when he was in the middle of a dogfight :huh
I'm sure I was the cause of his demise more than once

First I think a good name for her would be Berry, and second if she wants to fly in game let her do it at all costs, she will get the fever lets you stay on much longer than you can now.

The most important question is...
Do you have two computers? If yes, then by all means, let her fly! If no, you risk losing access to your gaming rig! :O
-
I would say yes to this! My wife is only interested in Aces High because she knows that I like it. Try it and see what happens Grape.
-
Think about it.
Pros
1) You get to give her yer old gear and you get new stuff. Think CH :aok
2) You get to give her yer old computer and you get a new one. :aok
3) You'll always know where she is and not off bar hopping. :aok
4) You'll both go to bed at the same time. Marital bliss. :aok
Cons
1) Who will get you your dinner? :noid
2) What about keeping the house clean? :huh
3) Shopping? Will she make you do it while she plays? :O
4) If she comes aboard you need to have a trainer train her. It's like teaching yer kid how to drive. Not good for marital bliss. :noid
5) Who will get her dinner? :furious
6) Who will work for a living so the other can play?
Personally I think the Pros far outweigh the Cons. :rofl

You're wife is open-minded and loves you. :)
-
Raptor is right.
I would let my wife play in a heart beat! Count your blessings. She wants to be involved and do what you do. Anaxogoras may have been facetious, but what he says could have some truth to it.
As it is my wife is about as supportive as a wife can be without flying. No complaints here.
-
I can't believe you guys missed the obvious name for her!
Raisin.
Sweeter than a grape, but shriveled and wrinkly.
Push the "sweeter" idea.
Don't push the shriveled and wrinkly idea.
-
Let her play if you don't it will only end badly.
-
put her in a bomber to start and escort her... or even jump in and gun for her. you 2 can get ticked at the game together :aok :D
-
Sounds like a great deal.
-

Bombers are kind of boring!
Put her in a pink spit IX!
There is nothing like shooting down a man while flying a pink plane :aok
-
LOL Grape, I did not think you had a wife because of your gameid being....well...fruity. :rofl
However, better she play the game and not play outside the home if you know what i mean. :noid
-
Heck Yes! And not to mention, one of two things will happen........ She can't fly and will lose interest. She can fly and now you have something to share, and grow, with her. And who knows, (Dirty Mind kicks in).... Have you ever seen 1941? The B25 scene with Donna Stratton (Nancy Allen)
That could be you dude!!! :rock
Sounds like she wants to spend more time with you. So either let her play or spend less time on AH.
-
Never had my wife ask me anything. If she wants to play she will. Best thing you can do is always agree with her, right or wrong.

If you're smart you will not only let her play but support her as much as possible!
OH and....
She who refuses to share chocolate ice cream is absolutely correct! :D :aok
-
Great replies, I think we will give it a shot tonight. We have two puters and two sticks so there won't be an issue with hadware. Oh and I was RFLOL about "Grape" being fruity. Think I'll make a new sqaud..."The Fuity Pebbles" and only fly pink SPITS :noid
-
Mrs Roo Flew for alot ,, back in AH1 days ..Id find her in a GV with the whole place surrounded ... She also loved to play with my gun ;) ner spots and we'd go trolling ina set of buffs . I

Now Wrag...I told you already...
A woman share chocolate?....NEVER!!! :O
That's just absurd! :rofl
-
Definitely let her play and train her well.
Her call name should be "Cherry".

its a trick. mothers day is coming up.
-
Good callsign would be ofWrath

since ak ak is taken.

TxDad & I were on the same squad a few times, which I didn't care about one way or another; just meant one of us always missed squad night to make sure the children were tended to. I don't like for him to teach me anything; usually ends up with us being angry at one another. So he and I are both content to let me stink until either someone else teaches me or I learn on my own.
When we're in different squads, it's nice to be able to stagger our squad nights. For us it's more important to have just one of us on at a time to make sure that someone is always attentive to the children. Would be much fun for he & I to play at the same time. :)
I hope y'all have fun! :)
-
I say go for it let her strap on a plane and see what she's got. My girlfriend flew with me for a night as a tailgunner it was fun except for the squeelin when we would get ganged by 5 or 6 fighters.. :rofl I thought the neighbors were gonna call the law assuming i was stabbing the cat with a fork. dam surround sound :rofl
she seemed to have a good time while it lasted but she's more of a solitaire or word game player things moved to fast for her in AH.
-

Believe that was a Lockheed Electra and not a B-25.
ack-ack
-
could be an end to wife ack!
-
First off it's not about the game its about her finally compromising to try and spend more time with you, so if your wife is willing to make that kind of compromise in order to spend time with you, at least do something she might find more entertaining then playing WW2 sim. This is a game, that is your family, you make the choice!
Oh by the way, I didn't hear what she was saying until it was to late, its just a game dude!
-

Zoozoo that is not something you will need to worry about for a long, long time. :)

Good point, but maybe she really does have and interest in the game.
We have no kids, so we spend some of our evenings playing this instead of plunked in front of the tv like the rest of the world.
Much more entertaining if you ask me ;)
In fact, my parents came to visit not long ago and I was going through withdrawls while they were here!
Ohh...and pink spits rule :rock
-
if this happened to me.
Get her a computer with AHII on it (internet too) and a joystick etc. Meet eachother both online and Kill her/ vulch/HO etc. then she won't play anymore :D

Which explains why you've 1) never had a girlfriend and 2) still a virgin.
ack-ack
-
Who are you to say what your wife can or cannot play, she is her own person. Help her try it out, and support her all the way.
-
Definitely enjoy the game together like anything else, but beware of the trap. I am always suspicious of the evil side of our species. She could be intent on showing how much she is willing to show intrest to your hobbies while secretly scheming to drag you into one of hers.
Someday a time may come where she says, " Ya know, how about we skip squad night and go to the bimonthly antique show 3 counties over. You'd love it as much as I love flying!"
:D Just kidding...or am I? :devil
Good luck! :aok
-
it will take the heat off of betty and SGY! .. let her play
-
What happens if she starts playing more then you do and starts making threads about husband ack?
-
Hook her up, Grape! Then when you're not AH-ing together, you can go "antiquing" together.
It's a sinister female plot to get you to go do something feminine. "If it's too good to be true. . . . "
Besides, I know Betty and don't trust women in general.
j/k -- I think you guys will have a blast together!

LOL darling. That is so true with my wife and I. I have no patients with her when I show her stuff and she gets angry with me if I can't domesticate to her standards which leaves us with intense arguments. Family life i guess.
-
Sounds like she wants to spend more time with you. So either let her play or spend less time on AH.
The might be trying to dive deep deep down into your heart so she can spend time with you and your interests so maybe you will do the same with her.
-
ya know, might be easier to get higher end equipment for AH if she knows first hand how important it is. think ill download AH to my wifes comp and give her my old joystick. so she can see why I want to use our 42in flatscreen for a monitor
-
In terms of screens, i play on a Gateway laptop. The graphics aren't very special frame rate is OK. BUT!!!! you can see through smoke and get to see where other tanks are because of some wierd black box that appears right on them.
-
What happens if she starts playing more then you do and starts making threads about husband ack?

Don't let her join bish, she might get into gangbangs :t :rofl

When you two fly, I'd say spend time flying only together, side by side on the computer. :)
Like a fighter escort or you escort her bomber, and tell her she's doing a good job and what not. Oh, and don't let her die, she just might get a lil bit mad.
-
Dang, what took me so long? You ever heard of the popcorn trick at the movies?
Just adapt the joystick to cover yours. Party on! :rock
Oh yeah! tell her that the dont move the controls too rapidly message is good.
-
in other MMOs, I would have my GF (a little different from a wife - but still) play while I was at work - eventually we bought a second computer and would play with or against each other depending. I think its a great thing to get your significant other involved and I have quite a few friends who would envy you. You should consider yourself lucky - and speaking from experience, she may even become a better pilot then yourself. . .better get crack'en!!
-

mmmm
tried teaching the Missus how to ride a motorcycle safely, which is a lot easier than this. After about an hour she never wanted to ride again. Point is make sure you use a trainer because he wont say stuff like "wtf did you do that for" etc.etc.
-
I say no...speaking from personal experience...buy her a PC and give her the SIMS!
-

silly hooch...don't be hatin on me cuz i whooped on ur squad the other night in the da *evil grin*
i say let her play! we need more females in the game! i would be happy to help her any time if the hubby is too scared to do it!
-
No flyin nekid!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol

SHOOT HER! :uhoh Quickly!
-
I say sign her up, let her play as much as she wants for that 1 week every month.
-
go for it.At least it is something you can do together
-
Oh, man. These responses were awesome and hilarious:
"The most important question is...Do you have two computers?"
and
"Think about it. Pros 1) You get to give her yer old gear and you get new stuff. Think CH [etc.]"
:aok
Seriously, of course you should go for it. If she doesn't, no problem -- she just tried it out. If she loves it, great -- you showed someone an excellent new hobby.

Ok, first of all, if she's already hooked then all the better, but if not then you should get her hooked before you do this so she wont just up and quit; train her so she is good enough to gun for you, and enough so that she can fly but not dogfight very well, then if she is just trying to get help you will not have just made an enemy that poses much of a threat. Next you should let her fly with you, but not while doing anything that will screw up your campain if you get shot down, that way you can see if she will just be reporting your location to her old sides' fighters. After that, then steadily train her leaving dogfighting for last.
-
You should teach her how to fly, teach her why everyone here loves the joy of flight, why we like our squad mates "second family"...uhm.
In short, you should make her one of us, and let her figure out why she NEEDS to play. ;)
-
From what Grape wrote, it sounds like she already plays and against him or he gets a lot of friendly fire coming his way, and he sounds like he is worried about a trick, I would be, I trust everybody but my gf and my gunner, oh ya words to live by.
-
:huh Is it a good idea to let the wife get involved?
Of course it's a good idea!
May turn out she loves to fly as well.
Which means you get to spend time together
doing something you both really enjoy.

11 years ago I watched my husband (Zeb) playing Air Warrior after he told me he thought he might be getting invited into a squad - before that I had not really taken a lot of interest, but suddenly realised there was more to it than I had originally thought! I watched in awe as I went online, passing through the OC to HQ and then on to a field and finally chose his plane and took off. He soon met up with Spiff and I watched while he fumbled to accept an invitation to the Krait Squadron - took about 3 goes I think. :)
I was totally amazed at the level of detail and kept asking him every night if he was going online to fly.... in the end he suggested I got my own account..... and the rest, as they say, is history! :D
-
Hell my ol lady plays, and enjoys it alot aka LTARmist!

In German, her callsign is rather unfortunate.
Mist = poo. :lol :rofl

well geez Ack-Ack i'm only 14, I got to wait until i'm married to do that
Sheesh
-
My only question is where did you get the idea that YOU have a choice?
-
If you walk in the door, and wife has pen in one hand, copy of Cosmo in the other, she has just filled out a poll and YOU'RE an arse
-
Hell my ol lady plays, and enjoys it alot aka LTARmist!
I didn't know that misty was your better half. *grin* She's cracking good, too. I always sigh if I see that she's killed me, since I know it'll be tougher if she's part of the LTAR crowd signed on that day.

There have been several commercials for Aces High running for the past couple years, usually on the Military or History channel.
-
Man, I really am unlucky :rofl; I missed the comercial(s?!?!) on the history and millitary channels? (kiding) Aw man, I really need to get off weed it and AH2, I have no life.
