As you are talking of ddr3, is it faster than ddr2 on a mid to low end home pc? I've been told it is slower if you don't have a high spec computer than can take advantage of it.

I was under the impression that the option to preload skins was dependant on available video memory.  Skuzzy?  Can you enlighten me here?

You got a nice new I7 with ddr3...but what is your video card, or are you running onboard video that is sharing your 6 gig system memory?

Im running 4 gigs ddr2 on a vista ultimate 32 bit system with a Core 2 duo 2.66 & 512mb gddr3 Nvidia video card....preload everything and run the hi res pack smoothly at very high resolutions.  Never had any problems  re: AH and memory access.

i have a 512 megabit hd ati.... That is why I am confused because I thought it was a memory issue also... Skuzzy just says it a known bug with folks who have over 2 gigs of ram :O

It's a known bug, which means it'll likely be fixed in the next 'update'.

One has to wonder if the next 'update' with the new terrains is coming up very very soon, which would explain why Skuzzy isn't saying anything more on the issue right now..]

hrmmm... one could hope...

is it because you are running vista 64bit or a 64 bit os?
( regarding the more than 2 gig of ram bug )

I have Win XP Pro 32 bit with 4 gigs of ram PC6400 and I see the option, my Vidcard is Ati 3870 TOP 512 meg DDR4.........gots everything maxed out on detail...& hi res pack1024 textures.......everything preloaded.........

I am waiting for anyone to tell me if Aces High works with 64 bit OS< or even with the new windows 7 64 bit os.......before I install it to that HD.....

Just to add re: 32bit vs 64bit - I just installed a second hard drive and installed Windows 7 RC1 64bit on it. I now get a dual boot menu and can boot into my Vista 32 or Win7/64.  AH works like a charm in Win 7. I chose to let it install in the default path, and run it as administrator. I get all in game downloads ( maps ), in game comms work, everything is all good  :aok

You do not want to install the game in the "Program Files" folder in Vista or Windows 7.  It will eventually come back to bite you.

Well, its been over 2 years and I aint been bit yet :)

Ive been using AH in its default install on Vista Ultimate 32 bit since the first day it came out. Never have had any issues except for the very first downloading of an update, which showed me that it was required to launch the game under XP compatibility mode as an administrator.  But Im a former sys admin and recognize not everyone is computer savvy, so as Skuzzy suggests going into the games folder would work better for most ( and make his job easier :) )    :salute

Now Im doing my own testing of Win 7 RC1 64 bit, since MS is offering it with a expiration into 2010.  The game works flawlessly so far in Win 7/64...Win 7 upon install recognised my Matrox multi monitor setup too.
Boot times are quite fast too. Im dual booting into Win7 regularly now to do all my computing, its noticably faster than a fresh install of Vista...and with 64 bit I picked up a additional half a gig of memory that the old 32 bit architecture couldnt address.

Its looking like Win 7 is what Vista 'shoulda been'...they should have just kept XP until this was ready.
