Just saw this on the local Fox news, they finally arrested Drew Petterson for the murder of his first wife, it's about time they got this guy, he was way to arrogant about it.

Well Darn it, The best of his life was about to happen. He was suppose to get a job at a brothel! :rofl :rofl
Seriously, that guy is a wacky social path.
-
I hope the creep never gets out of jail :salute
-
Wasn't Peterson also the same last name as the other guy who killed his wife a few years ago? Sad.

Well...normally I'd be in the innocent till proven guilty crowd. If you can do it for lifelong scumbag criminals and OJ then you can do it for retired cops. But when a marriage is breaking up, and the girl is going for the $$, there are some guys who just cant live with that. Some guys love their money, and their things, more then anything else in the world.
I look at this guy, the way he dresses, the stuff he owns, his need for notoriety and the spotlight, and I see that kinda guy. And those dicks investigating him see it also, believe me. And they love it. The investigating Police wish he's appear on every show on television wagging his mouth.
If it was me, and it never could be cause I fear Gods justice, but if it was I would have kept my mouth shut and let the story die off of page #1. Peterson's constant babbling has made it a big story for to long and has made him a lot of enemies. They are going to investigate this guy forever if thats what it takes.
What your seeing now is simply a tactic. They know they dont have a chance to convict him on this murder but they are turning up the heat on him, ramping up the pressure, in the hopes of getting him for the last wife. Right now they are screwing him back, and the "G" has limitless resources. They can spend unlimited $$, and keep 50 guys on it as long as they like.

Investigators have letters to the local DA as well as telephone conversations she had with her family members a few days before she was murdered daying "he's going to kill me and he says he'll make it look like an accident."
The first post-mortem didn't find the reason, but the body was exhumed and a coroner now says that she was beaten to death.
On his last wife, a friend of Peterson says he helped load a blue plastic 55 gallon drum into a truck--days after she came up missing.
On top of that, he gets on TV with his kids and tells them "mommy isn't coming back".
Sad.

Did she report it to Police? Make a case report for "threats"? Yes? No? If its no then its all hearsay and old news anyhoo.
The first post-mortem didn't find the reason, but the body was exhumed and a coroner now says that she was beaten to death.
And the first negates the 2nd. Any competant lawyer can argue its a witch hunt. That he's being persecuted for a muder due to a 2nd incident that happened years later. Indeed the murder itself was found to be an accident at first.

A big nothing. It aint illegal to own a plastic drum. Perterson wont even have to account for it cause his Lawyer wont allow him to testify.
On top of that, he gets on TV with his kids and tells them "mommy isn't coming back".
Which can mean a lot of things. It can also mean, "Mommy found a jocker and aint coming back to you kids". Another big nothing.
OJ Simpson beat one where they had tons more evidence. Including his hairs at the scene on Ron Goldman, hair on a cap that was OJs. I have a buddy who's LAPD and he told me they all thought it was a locked up case they had so much evidence against the guy.http://www.justicejunction.com/judicial_injustice_oj_evidence.htm
Compared to what they have on Peterson I'd say this is just a rattle tactic by the D/A. Its not all that easy tieing up a homocide case anyways. People get away with murder all the time. This Peterson guy may very well walk from both of them.

Just like the attempt they made when they arrested him on weapon violation charges for having an assault rifle that was confiscated during one of the searches of his house. It was widely interpreted as a rattle attempt because at the time of the assault rifle was seized from him house, he was still a policeman and was legal for him to have it in his home. It was not until after he left the police force that he was arrested and charged for the weapons violaton that have since been dropped.

Now for the actual reasons that they scooped him.
Primary elections in IL are next spring, the Dupage County States Atty is running for reelection, there will be no trial until after the general election, at the earliest. Thus, the States Atty can say that justice is being accomplished to quiet his critics, it all comes down to politics.
They have no case other than hearsay evidence, there was a law passed in IL - actually nicknamed the Drew Peterson Law. The law basically tenets that a person can go to trial without the benefit of facing their accuser, if, as the case they will be trying to prove, if, you have eliminated the accuser - the accuser being Savio. It will be interesting, but most legal experts believe the case will fall apart because eventually it would end up in the Supreme Court. And, that narcissist Peterson would love that attention too.

Rich I can't believe that you could actually think that this guy is innocent, He's definitely a murderer, come on what are the odds that his last 2 wives died, I'm we don't know for a fact that Stacy is dead, but it's a 99.9% chance she is. It was even his nephew I believe it was that said the night she went missing he helped him load a 55 gallon blue drum in his car, then had him go to a cafe and gave him her phone and told him not to answer it when it rang, hell the guy felt so bad the next day when he found out that Stacy had disappeared that he tried to kill himself because he realized what he had helped him do.
Also 2 medical examiners have said that the cause of death for his first wife was homicide. Also Stacy told her pastor in confession that Drew had admitted to her that he had killed his first wife, now why would a pastor of all people lie or make something like that up, this guy is so guilty it's not even funny. With the things they have against this guy I'd be really suprised if he's found not guilty
And Nwbie the case isn't in Dupage County, I believe that it's in Will County.

I never said I thought he was innocent. Try re-reading my post. What I think means nothing because the Law says hes innocent.
Start going down the road your on and next thing you know it'll be you getting strung up. You either have evidence that proves guilt beyond a reasonable doubt or you dont.
Thats the problem with juries today. Everyone on the jury thinks they are an independent operator that can play outside the rules. In some places they think they are auditioning for spots in a movie. Now even the accused do.

If this guy wasn't a former PO, and the media so desperate to survive, nobody would have even heard about all this.

Oh yeah? :lol Well theres a real stable witness. He'll fit right into this case.

I really don't think the fact that he was a cop plays into it that much, the guy had 2 wives die or disappear under mysterious circumstances, I could see him being a cop being the reason if it was just the one wife, but you have 2 and the media's gonna pick up the story no matter if he's a cop or garbage truck driver.
And can you really blame the guy for trying to kill himself after finding out he just help someone cover up a murder? I don't think that makes him any less stable a witness. I think the only reason your sticking up for this guy is your a cop if I remember correctly, that good ol' blue wall of silence, and sticking together no matter what, I mean you seem to be the only person I've ever known that can't see how guilty this guy is, I mean come on, where's Stacy, she didn't run off with some guy like he said she did, and if you think she actually did then your gullible. This guy either has the worst luck in the whole world by having 2 wives die under mysterious circumstances, or he killed both his wives.
Also you can just tell that he has that type of personality that he could easily kill someone and it wouldn't bother him at all, I mean most people in that situation wouldn't be using it to turn themselves into a celebrity.

Whatever happened to inocent until proven quilty?

For the second time, or was it the third? Nobody is sticking up for anyone. You moron.

Hahaha...yeah ok. hahahaha
Im done with this entire story. :rofl And can you really blame the guy for trying to kill himself after finding out he just help someone cover up a murder? I don't think that makes him any less stable a witness.
hahahahahaha

Oh yeah, he must be a loony toon because he felt so bad about realizing what he just help Petterson do that he tried to kill himself.
-
He'll never be convicted and sentenced.
No body= No Cause of Death= No Murder.
Whether or not you agree or disagree, that is the law. You cannot send someone to death or prison on circumstantial evidence, which is what the entire case is based on.
-
Maybe a fact check prior to posting would help.
Felony convictions from circumstantial evidence are common. There are plenty of capitol cases that convict with no physical evidence presented.
Unfortunately that's not the issue. The whole case is evolving into a circus. The trial should be a hoot.

Billionare's Boys Club. The ring leader was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for murder that was based solely on circumstantial evidence (body of the victim was never found). He would have received the death penalty but he was able to argue successfully for life in prison instead.

SANTA ANA, Calif. - A man convicted of murdering an Arizona couple by tying them to an anchor and throwing them overboard from their yacht off Southern California was sentenced to death Friday.
Prosecutors said Deleon, of Long Beach, feigned interest in buying the couple’s nearly half-million-dollar yacht and threw them overboard during a test cruise out of Newport Harbor in 2004. The Hawkses’ bodies were never found.

Whether or not the defense did their homework or not is the issue. Of course you may find cases that go against the grain, there are always cases that aren't typical. In general, it is nearly impossible to get a conviction on a murder trial without a body and cause of death. Whether you agree or not, it is the way it is. A defense attorney doesn't need to prove anything at all, only raise doubt. The prosecution, on the other hand, must prove beyond a reasonable doubt, that the accused committed the crime.
Ask yourself, how do you prove someone's dead, without having the body....beyond any doubt?
-
"And Nwbie the case isn't in Dupage County, I believe that it's in Will County."
I stand corrected - still the same reasoning though - elections are looming.

That's not what your earlier post said. You made an unequivocal statement that was factually baseless.
The fact is that as many convictions are won on the basis of circumstantial evidence only, a large percentage of cases won on the weight of physical evidence are in doubt due to the questionable reliability of most forensic testing. We now know witness id's are highly problematic, we can't trust fingerprint analysis or polygraphs (apparently never could), lead content analysis is junk science, D.N.A. labs can't be trusted and it's doubtful there's a prosecutor in the country that could tell the truth if it came up and bit him on the tuckus.
It's all a blind turkey shoot and a popularity contest. And it's all about money. Peterson isn't a wealthy man. Wonder how it'll work out for him.
