Title: cmos
Post by: SNO on May 08, 2009, 05:40:44 PM
When I boot up comp I get the message that the clock settings are wrong and need to change in bios.  I reset the time and the next startup did the same thing. Does this mean my cmos battery is fried ? Comp runs fine other than that.

2.8ghz P4
3 gigs ram
asus motherboard p4p800 deluxe
XP

Yep sounds like it to me...  Wal Mart has replacements.  Most use standard watch battery size

Does your Computer have an external cmos switch? If so you may have bumped it fiddling with usb ports etc.

A CR2032 lithium has been the standard cmos battery in PC motherboards for probably 15 years (at least)

Getback, didn't bump anything but thanks for the heads up. Put the new battery in and everything seems good now, the comp was built in 2003 or 04 not sure and gets shut down and power shut off every night so I'd say I got a good run on the battery. Thanks for the info and the maybe could be's <S>
