Cool.
Anyone know what film the vid is based on? It doesn't look like the 1969 film Battle of Britain, but was that it?
-
Except for that absolute trash 80's music, it was pretty cool.

Looked like vid shots of "Pearl harbor" the movie. When Ben was over flying with the RAF. Poor quality Video though. Need one in HD.

The air combat scenes were from Battle of Britain. :aok

Yep the 1969 film of the B.o.B. AND a scene or two from Pearl Haba. BoB was a great flying flick btw. Some of the repeat shoot down scenes in the movie were a lil hokey though :aok

OMFG...It had Ben Affleck in it flying a dweebplane.
Have...to...cut....out.....my ...eyes....

I agree Ren, but they used R/C models and actual surviving aircraft to film it so i guess they are excused lol.

Yep for the damage scenes but I read somewhere in the 60's they were able to put together a real air force using some spanish air force planes. Many of the flight scenes in the movie (read: not FIGHT scenes) were made using real planes. I think they used a B-17 as a flying film platform. Some of the spit scenes were movie made in the air using the same filming platform Very realistic and one of the best oldie dogfight movie around.
Here's a modern day flick made for TV. It's a Red Flag flick with some very cool flight/fight scenes.

I was around at the time Bob was filmed. There was a lot of anticipation ahead of it's premier. Franco was still Da Man in Spain and the Spanish airforce was made up almost exclusively of vintage WWII era German aircraft, some of Spanish manufacture made under license. The film makers basically rented the entire Spanish airforce for the making of the movie. Periodicals of the time like Life Magazine and the Sat. Evening Post carried pictorials of the movie making in progress.
As far as the "absolute trash 80's music", I kinda liked it. I might be considered an old dude by some but I appreciate music that gets my adrenaline flowing and better puts me and my imagination into the action. I don't relate as well to music from 60 or more years ago. That's me. I've often thought that the musical score of today's historically themed films could much better entice and hold the interest of younger people if it was something they could relate to. To each their own.

Ren
keep in mind in 1969 it was a little more difficult to make the different scenes.

Here's one that I think is a bit better cut together.

I could identify scenes from BoB, Pearl Harbor, Dark Blue World, and maybe Spitfire '40.
