We need volunteers to download and run a test application to give us a broad compatibility test of certain components in the upcoming graphics changes. The download is about 80 MB.
INSTRUCTIONS
1- Download and upzip this file: http://downloads.hitechcreations.com/gtester4.zip It will unzip to a folder called gtester. You can put this wherever you want it on your computer.
2- Shut down any apps that you have open and go into the gtester folder and run the file gtester.exe.
3- Note whether it looks like either of the examples below or if it crashes or has any graphic anomalies. It might be all white for example.
4- Do not move the view or change sliders or other default settings.
5- Press escape to go to full screen mode.
6- Wait 10 seconds and record your frame rate and resolution.
7- After you've completed the test, you can hole down the right mouse button while moving your mouse to manipulate your view. Doing that while holding down the shift or control key will manipulate your world position.
Please report your results in this thread in the following format:
Your video card model.
Did it run normal, low detail, crash, or have any graphic anomalies.
Recorded frame rate from test. Make sure you are in full screen mode and not windowed mode when you record this.
Recorded resolution from frame rate test in full screen mode.
The two screenshots below will show you what you should see. The first screenshot is the normal mode that most computers will see. The second screenshot is a low detail mode that you will see if your video does not handle hardware acceleration. Please limit replies in this thread to test results. There is a separate discussion thread for everything else All replies other than test results in this thread will be deleted so that we can easily parse through it. Thanks for your help!

Also tried in win Me compatibility mode (as us "vista" users run the normal game),
mostly the same results except framerate was only 114, and no error on exit.
Sorry for extra info, just hoping to help :)

As tested with Gtester2:
One Nvidia 7900 GTX (512 mb)
1920 by 1200 resolution
normal mode, 10 second load time
FPS over the canyon: 115.60
FPS over water and terrain: 79.80 ( I had the same white water areas as others reported with Gtester2).
However, my usual AH game specs are:
Dual Nvidia 7900 GTX's (running SoftTH in NON-SLI mode, through 3 panels in 3968x1024 resolution), I typically get 20-30 FPS in-game with this setup, using hi-rez packs and 1024 textures. One card drives the software across 3 panels and the other card, non-SLI'd, is a pass through for the third monitor. Gtester didn't use this SofTH's software has to be placed in the game folder to work. Don't know if it matters for the test, but it may under playing conditions.

ATI Radeon X850XT
Win XP Pro SP2 (1 GB ram, shut down everything unnecessary with XP game launcher as I always did before playing, got 23 processes running and 250 MB of RAM used)
Fullscreen ran with anomalies, as you can see in the attached image
Res: 1280x1024
FPS: 7.80!
Run again with gtester2, same results (7.73 fps with res 1280x1024, triangle count 260541, anomalies still showing).
Can Catalyst settings influence the results?
EDIT: with shader turned off, results for fullscreen are:
Normal, no anomalies
Res: 1280x1024
FPS: 60 (I have Vsync on, so, probably it's limiting frame rate at monitor refresh rate)

sorry this isn't really in the right thread, but I couldn't find any.
Does anyone have any idea why my monitor WILL NOT go above 60Hz? I went to preferences and 60Hz was the only choice I had, even after unclicking the box,are the HP BIOS messing me up or something?

See your PMs, I don't want to hijack this thread.

Go to hardware & software section of the forum. Most LCD screens don't go over 60Hz btw.

I finally see the water.
Still seeing those blue grey pixel anomalies in the lower left of my screen, both in land and water tiles. If Reflections are on, the stretched reflections reported by other simply aren't there, the water continues to the shoreline without the reflections, stretched or otherwise.
Keyboard input was almost nonexistent unless I clicked on the scene in the window first.
