Title: ME163 Record Altitude 93,700 feet Flifast
Post by: Flifast on May 13, 2009, 08:55:06 AM
Do you have the Right Stuff?  Ever wonder whats outside of Hitechs game matrix?  Beat this 93,700 feet record altitude while recording.
Get to the record altitude and back to a safe landing.
The speed on this attempt during recovery was Mach 1.11 at 864mph just below 70,000 feet and was recovered.  This recording was edited because I did not record the start to finish, but was done to a safe landing and thats all I ask of you to break this record!

Notice the inputs to maintain level flight at above 60K.

I got one up to something like 38000 or 48000 feet one day chasing a Pony when it experienced mach tuck and went into a severe spin which I didn't recover from until just under 10K.

Think I'll go give it a try ofline right now.

Using the SAPP issued JATOs duct taped to my 38J I have reached 67500 ft at which point I released my torpedos... I forgot I had them duct taped on too.

OK actually the duct tape is the only thing SAPP issued. Everything else is just what we can find laying about. I once had an almost complete 38G taped to my 38J. Collected the parts flying with Corkyjr in just over 16 hours flight time.

OK.  I just tried it.

On my fifth try I finally broke 90K but when I did the entire cockpit/airplane dissapeared.  I still had fuel and was trying to manage my speed and climb rate but when the cockpit dissapeared there wasn't anything I could do.

I watched the film and I hit 90.9K.  When it came back under 90K the cockpit/airplane reappeared, both in my flight and in the film.  I did land safely but made the mistake of flying away from friendly bases and had to glide forever to get back.

I'm pretty sure if the entire airplane hadn't dissapeared I'd have been able to hit 100K or at least close to it as I still had over 1 min of fuel left.

Maybe I'll trry again later... maybe not.

Nifty to brag, but try not to think of it as realistic. Aces High "breaks" over a certain alt (50K? I don't recall) and physics doesn't work as it should. So breaking Mach1 at 70,000 feet doesn't mean much because the game doesn't model things up that high. Try breaking it under 40K, then it would be interesting to see.

Yes, there are some very strange anomolies.

As I was approaching about 45K I was reading 1-2 minutes of fuel remaining.  When I broke over that my fuel remaining went to 3-4 minutes remaining and climb rate improved dramatically.

As I approached 90K I was showing 100 mph IAS and over 500 mph TGS and still climbing at around 15K ft/m.  The plane was shaking from speed stress and the stall buzzer was going off from being too slow.  That was the process I was trying to manage when the plane dissapeared.  I was trying to lower throttle and climb rate to bring IAS up while dropping TAS and it seemed to be working until the vanishing act occured.

Check your TAS bug out...it wraps all the way around.  I never got the disapearing plane.  The recovery is alway out of control like what we call the falling leaf, then kick it inverted and try to keep it in a full stall till 50K or so then recover.  Speed kills!  Fli

What do the Starship Enterprise and a roll of toilet paper have in common?

They're both headed for Uranus to wipe out the Klingons.

Nice...but did you recover and land it dead stick?  95K is as high as I got and it came apart on the way down.

Looks like when I have some free time I'll punch it on up!  Fli

Ok.. so it's not a 163..

and there's no 'safe landing'..

but if you're looking for speed and alt..

The higher you go the slimmer the marging between flying too slow and too fast gets.  At work when we fly we only have like a 15-25 kt margin to operate in.

Too slow and you drop like a rock, too fast and you start tearing the plane apart.
