Title: Boycott CBS evening news
Post by: Mickey1992 on May 13, 2009, 03:16:45 PM
I don't care what your political beliefs are.  If I was press secretary and CBS' Bill Plante not only failed to silence his cellphone BUT ACTUALLY ANSWERED THE CALL DURING A PRESS CONFERENCE I would ban him from the room for a week.  This is unprofessional beyond comprehension.

Would he have answered if they weren't "playing" take the ringing phone to begin with.

Seemed like a very crucial press conference.

Another slow news day?

Lighten up Francis.

I haven't watched CBS Evening News since Walter Cronkite left .

I didn't like or believe him either. Honesty and integrity have not been hallmarks of the media in many decades, if they ever really were. I don't think Cronkite was much better than or different from Rather.

There's no news on US TV stations, just editorial comment.

I recommend the BBC.

MODS:  This thread is NOT political...it deals with journalists being professional.

Any reporter that goes into any press conference with his cell phone on is a moron.  In yesterday's live WH press conference TWO reporters left their phones on.

VERY unprofessional.

They were all yucking it up and giving him attaboys on the Early Show this morning.  Just pathetic.

I've watched BBC World News since I realized that I got it, it's a lot more interesting than US news, which seems to be mostly pundits talking about the same boring trivial politics 24 hours a day. Can't stand CNN, MSNBC or FOX, all a bunch of stupidly polarized politics.
There's so much more going on in the world that I never knew about before.

At least the distraction helped to alter the mood that the Whitehouse created when they announced that the carefully thought out decision to support the release of the photos was not so carefully thought out.  :aok

A bit off topic....

What do YOU do when someone's cell rings in the movies?

And they answer it?

And have a conversation?

I haven't encountered this yet.  I don't go to movies during peak times anymore.  But anyhow, do you make them eat the phone?
