Title: Meaning of AH words used to describe
Post by: A8TOOL on May 15, 2009, 02:47:04 AM
Was wondering what the definitions of some words used here in AH are to describe certain game play and types of people.

I know some of you will be tempted to attach player names to these definitions but please do your best to refrain from bashing anyone. It's not what this thread is about.

Seems there are two types of noobs...if I have the spelling right

Noobs
   &
Nube

Gamer

Already know what a Ho tard and what ace pilots are also

Toolshedder

Tool

Dweeb..

Geek.......whats diff?

Furballer and land grabber are self explanatory although there are different levels.

Any other words I'm missing or are new?  hehe, I'm way out of the loop.

Noobs - Someone who is new to the game, and is playing as if they obviously were.
   &
Nube

Gamer - Someone who finds a glitch in the game/FM and uses it to their advantage (Tanks in ammo bunkers is a recent one)

Already know what a Ho tard and what ace pilots are also

Toolshedder - Someone who goes after strats although I may be wrong on this one

Tool - An idiot

Dweeb.. Someone who flies spits

Geek.......whats diff? We all are arent we? Computer geeks?

Furballer and land grabber are self explanatory although there are different levels.

Urban Dictionary ftw. :aok

N00b

A inexperienced and/or ignorant or unskilled person.

Newb

A term used to describe a inexperienced gamer/person/etc. Unlike a noob, a newb is someone who actually wants to get better.

Squeeker

A person who has yet to meet the age of puberty and compensates for their lack of adult hood or skill in the game by the butchering of the English language with their high voices by stringing together profanity after profanity. commonly found playing any online game with voice chat such as Halo.

Toolshedder:  Is a player (using a bomber, fighter or GV) who ignores player controlled objects and attacks stationary, unoccupied buildings instead, i.e. a shed full of tools; especially when there is a large furball underway and the player drops the fighter hangars without the threat of field capture by either side, which also makes him a griefer.  Another variety of toolshedding is noe-base-sneak-capture missions.

I'd have to say that a Gamer is simply one who plays the game.

A Crusader: A person who believes that their plan of dealing with victory and the taking of a base or bases for your chess piece is the only plan that is worth taking and if your not with them you are against them . Victory is paramount at all costs no matter how many are slain or thrown away no matter the number of deaths attempted in doing so regardless of the number of defenders/attackers

A Dweeb is the lowest form of life and being one isn't dependent on whether one flies a Spitfire.  There are 'Dweebs' that fly all types of planes.

Sadly, 'Dweeb' has been wussified over the years by the lemming masses that don't know its true meaning and is no longer the poisonous word it used to be.

Ya know there are three seperate resources on this topic...

From AHWiki Common terms (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/wiki/index.php/Common_terms)
Quote
dweeb - new pilot or one who does dumb things

furballer - A type of player whos objective is to engage in air to air combat with other players, and who has little interest in the strategic war effort of the arena.

newb, noob - a player who is just starting out and unfamiliar with the game. (derogatory) A player who's actions indicate they don't know what they are doing.

squeaker - derogatory slang for a young/adolescent(though not necessarily new) player. Derived from their high-pitched voices and tendency to whine and over use the comms and forum

toolsheder - A type of player whos objective is to destroy strategic objects (sarcasticly refered to as "toolsheds"), with little interest in engaging in combat with other players.

There's also http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/abbreviations/abbreviations.htm and http://www.netaces.org/abbreviations/abbreviations.htm though some of the OPs terms are not listed in those.

zealot: gamer who is so loyal to their pretend online "country" that they go as far as to insult or claim cheating on any person who has played for more than one "country" on the same game.

CAPStard: person who doesn't or will not turn off the CAPS lock key as if we are going to listen to them because they type in all CAPS

I'd have to say that a Gamer is simply one who plays the game.

Spikes, I was thinking that in AH to call some one a Gamer is generally a derogetory term, so I was thinking along those lines.

Ack-Ack - Yea I was thinking that, but then thought its generaly put to a spitty pilot. Certainly in the squad im in, '71 RAF Eagle Squadron', we're all called in dweebs on squad vox, we take it as a term of squad endearment! Mmmmm does that make us the lowest Life forms?  :lol

Urban Dictionary ftw. :aok

[

never thought of AHWIKI or the Urban dictionary.

Noob and Newb are two differenty things and I new they were spelled different too...was just unsure .

A few good terms here I did not know about.  Crusader, Hordling and Cockroaches are new to me. Toolshedder has a couple of definitions it looks like and the LTAr jokes were funny,... I'm sure they don't mind much :)

Wirbelpatch Cracked me up...very true.

We all fit into one or two of these categories. I wonder what kind of squeaker I wouold have made heheh
