Looking at the new web site for plane speed comparisons, our XIV is much slower than it should be....
Why?

That chart shows around 415 at 13k, around 410 at around 17k, around 445 at 26k, and around 410 at 40k. That's pretty close to the AH speed chart.

Furball, are you sure you're reading the chart correctly? The line for the Spit XIV is the dash-dot-dash line, not the solid line (which is the Hornet).

Hmmm... Never mind.
My bad! haha!
Thanks guys.

Glad you posted anyways Furb, I took notice of the Hornet. I have never heard of it before. Checked it out, looks a lot like a fast single seat baby Mosquito.

That's exactly what it was! Awesome plane, just too bad it didn't make it in time for war service. Eric Brown called it the most powerful prop fighter he ever flew; did low level loops in it with one engine!

Amazing plane... fastest prop plane ever to serve with the RAF IIRC - was more successful as the Sea Hornet.
Climb was even more impressive.

Whoa, wouldn't that be a great rope-in' machine!
-
Why?
Can our Spit 14 pull 18" of boost?

Furball, take a look. :aok

Problem is the max boost the Spit XIV used was 21lb.

Last time I checked, the Spit XIV did not have the ROC it should have had. That is, from 0K to 20K. I clocked it and it was too slow. It was for instance, not a match for the 109G2.
However, it's been a while, so this could have been fixed in AH since then.

Did you keep best climb speed?

Uh... You might want to check again.... The Spit14 has a noticable lead in climb advantage over the 109G2. Always has. You can check Gonzo's or the new AH charts section.

They fixed it then. I recall clocking it some years back with a stopwatch. 109G2 was somewhat faster to 20K. Maybe they fixed it when the Spixteen and VIII were introduced.
