Yip.
Had a fight with NUTTZ, whose an excellent pilot. he was nik i was yak.
Not only was I faster, but on a scissor + turnfight, I was able to rule the fight easily, almost killing him before some acks killed me.
N1K2 is not the phoenix some claim. hehehe, fools. Yak9u is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better plane. All the N1K2 has going for it, is its four cannons and ability to get many kills in a big furball.

excellent yak flyin animal....i belive i was in your sights for at least one of those fights in my p38....if it hadnt been for my ded engine though i woulda had ya ;) :p

Now, with new FM, niki is problem only if it gets a good e advantage on you. Nikis are predictable now, no more those mirracle e generators on verticals.
I predict usage of niki this tour will be much lower than before.

It already is... I dont see the same number of Niki's hovering around anymore.
Still a very good plane though.

Well, YAK has allways been the "Unknown" Uber plane in my eyes, not many fly it becasue of it's guns and they think it's a slightly slower and worse climbing G10, it's actually top 5 fighters in the game.

Old FM or new FM for the N1K, the Yak has always been a thorn in it's side when flown by a competent pilot. I hated those friggin' things when I flew the N1K as my main ride!

Yak is better known as the Mustang whip. Us Mustang drivers fear the Yak and treat it with great respect.
But there is little respect for Nik drivers from us Mustang boys. That's why NIKI'S are our #1 meal.
Don't worry Animal, you are miles above any NIK driver. Respect for them isn't needed as a cat drunk on Nyquil could fly a NIK.

Yak has very low ammo load and it cannot keep the nose 90 degrees up without any effort down to 10 mph.
Whenever I fight a Yak I know it'll either be an easy kill if its pilot doesnt know the plane, or a damn good fight if the yak pilot has some knowledge of the plane.

I think it isnt good chose for massive furball but for 1 vs 1 or fight in small groups ist absolutly kewl airplane.
Small ammo load ? I killed 3x m3 and 3 other airplanes in 1 sortie.
Yesterday i sniffed in mountains near sea and i got 3x goons 2 F4U and 1 pony and spend 120 cans round at all, then i ditched :)

When i see lower or co alt runstang i usualy kill him , because i do not like runners :D
When i fly diffrent airplane, i also have repekt to yaks, because its usualy driven by good pilots
do no matter how good yak pilot you are , but gang bang will also get you. ;)

I've been flying the Yak9U exclusively for a2a for over a tour now, whereas before the La-7 was my main ride.
I miss the shear hitting power, snapshot ability and ammo of the La-7, but I really enjoy the more manoeverable Yak. I MUCH prefer its low speed handling - the La-7 was a real handful when slow. It's a bit better suited to higher altitude too.
I've had to pick my fights a bit more, but killing the supposedly uber nik and La-7 is very satisfying. :)

The Yak plain sukks. Both of them. They're turn fighting dogs and also can't get our of thier own way in level flight. To get any decent performance out of it you need to fly with 25% fuel and that leaves no air time. Combined with such a low ammo laod it's not much fun to fly at all. I recomend most poepl pass it on by and go for the much better and glamorous rides!

Not taking anything away from Animal, It was a great fight. Yak and 109's always been tuff for us Niki pilots. I had just whacked a Hurrican when i saw Animals' yak incomming, the fight was a great fight and was in and out of My ack. BUT I did win the fight.
