The 91st Bomb Group (H) "The Ragged Irregulars" is a newly formed squad by Thndregg. We enjoy high alt strategic bombing missions, jabo runs, and fighter escort missions which is why we have included a Sub squad within, the 354th Fighter Group. It comprised of P47's and P51's during the war, escorting Buff's over Europe and nearing the end, straffing runs against axis targets of oportunity.
If you are looking for a group of fun guys to fly with, whether it be bombing, straffing or sweeping. PM myself or thndregg to get further details.
A few Requirements...
- A mature and respectful attitude
- Patience- we are a heavy bomber group after all, with other aspects of Aces High mixed in.
.
- Preferably over 18, but we can make exceptions based on attitude & actions.
- Acknowledge orders from your CO and XO ( 91st BG (H) - Thndregg) (354th FG - BackFire).
- We are a Bishop squad. Joining another country results in expulsion from the 91st by the C.O./X.O.

To those involved on both sides of our Bish mission last night, that is what we're working toward in building our squad (aside from getting our virtual arse handed to us by you Rooks <S> :D) The climbout was long, but the fight & fun was well worth it.
Our forum is up and running, although there may be a few hiccups to work out. Link is in sig. Fudgums has more screenies here: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,265577.0.html

The weekend is coming. I'll be on Friday night in the event anyone wants to fly with the 91st BG(H). We'll run some classic bomber missions with escorts thrown in. Hopefully all sides have a good time. <S> :)
We are still recruiting. :aok

Good luck with the new colors Egg. Hope all goes well. :salute Tuk151
Thanks, Tuk, <S> :). We're picking up a few interested folks here & there. Hopefully down the road we will have a solid group of bomber pilots. Right now we're just playing it loose. Hap1 has been a great one to fly with recently as he & others patiently escorted some of my Bish-posted B17-B24 missions. I'll try to be on more during the week, but that depends on how much my job tires me out & other real life B.S.
Along with bombers being the core of what we do, we do cut loose from that and do other fun things (i.e. fighter fun, hangar queen specials, etc...). If you're interested, folks, give us a shout right here, PM me, or visit our site (in sig).

Welcome aboard, Drake11. :)

Still on the lookout for folks interested in medium to high alt bomber/escort operations. If you're familiar with the posted bomber missions we've flown (primarily B17's), that's what we're about. We've got a few on the roster so far, and we are still looking for more players with a realistic appreciation for the heavy bomber and it's proper roll in the game.
-
Fantastic pictures! That must've one great fight!
I'd love to join you in your high altitude missions someday! But I still have to get a subscribtion...your pictures sure are convincing me to hurry up!

EDIT: What times are your squadmeetings/missions?
We haven't determined when we will meet up on a weekly basis just yet. For now, I'm playing it loose until we gain at least another five members. Once we have that, then a regular squad night will happen. I simply want a group big enough where we can still have a presence while some squaddies may be absent.
As of right now, I've been playing most nights during the week just to get a feel for how this will work. My impression is that I will give it more patience & time for potential members to check us out. So therefore, I will still be posting B17/Escort missions in the hopes of gaining members that have the patience & appreciation for that style of game play. I don't expect this to happen overnight, but I remain hopeful that it will happen. Just keep watching for those posted missions, and you "bad guys" keep looking to kill us. :D Lots of fun.
I'll see y'all tonight.
-
I REALLY hope people give this squad the consideration it deserves. Love the missions.
-
Things are a little off-kilter with the death of my dad. I'll drop in when I can to see how the squad is doing. <S>
-
The subject came up yesterday between three of us about finally establishing a squad night. Initially, I thought it was a bit early being we're still quite small. But after discussing it, we came up with Saturday nights at 7pm (MDT) (9 Eastern).
We'll plan a mission (or missions, situation depending) with the 91st Bomb Group's core aircraft, the B17 Flying Fortress. Thes missions will be run at high or medium altitude, appropriate to their historic roll. As our squad grows over time, we will add an appropriate fighter escort element (historically the 354th Fighter Group) lead by someone competent and confident in thier ability to fly and fight in the P51 and P47, and patient enough to train others in that roll.
While we will uphold that standard for squad night, all other times are pretty much free to do whatever. We are not a strict regemented squad. We're just a bunch of guys interested in fun and friendship. I know some of you will roll your eyes at this, but we will remain Bish. That's where a lot of my long time buddies are.
To the (friendly) foes, we look forward to the action and the fun. <S> :)
-
Welcome, Gorf131, to the "Ragged Irregulars".
-
As I'm with Most Wanted now I dont get to switch much, but I'm still looking forward to doing some escorting :aok

As I'm with Most Wanted now I dont get to switch much, but I'm still looking forward to doing some escorting :aok
You are always welcome, Banshee7.
Sorry for the bump, but this is a mid-week reminder that we will conduct our first squad night this Saturday, 7pm MDT. I was asked about it by several folks, and this is the result we came up with. The core elements for this squad's squad nights are the B17 bomber, and appropriate escorts, the P51 and P47, as history has documented. Skins will either reflect the 91st Bomb Group, or the 354th fighter group for our squad. Any other squads who would like to help wing with us using your expertise in Allied air power are welcome. Vox channel is 191.
***This is a trial run.***
You guys on the other side of the fence, let's have some fun, shall we? :t
We are still recruiting members who have an active appreciation for this roll of aerial combat and heavy bombardment. Patience, dedication, & maturity is a must if you value the realism this kind of combat (with regard to the game) offers. Most other nights are pretty free-form, however, because Aces High is about fun above all else.
Check us out! Squad link is in my sig. I will do my best to confirm registrations to the site. <S>
-
Always a pleasure winging up for missions.. :rock
-
I'm contemplating about disbanding the mongorians and joining up with the 91st as an escort pilot.
-
I'm contemplating about disbanding the mongorians and joining up with the 91st as an escort pilot.
Let me know, bud. You're welcome to hang with us as long as you need. I'd love it if someone knowledgable could expand on the 354th's roll in escorting the 91st. We keep putting missions together, and both the bombers and the escorts find action high in the sky. Makes for fun & good times.
Our *trial run* squad night is tomorrow at 7pm MDT. As said before, our squad will fly the 91st and 354th skins. We'll see how it goes.
P.S.: Welcome to the 91st, TTflier. <S>
-
can't wait for your squad night tonight EGG, just need to make it through a few hours of work
-
Yeah, this night is going to be a ton of fun!
-
Well, not a bad start to a humble beginning for the 91st Bomb Group. We got side tracked with some impromptu action elsewhere, so our official start was delayed. However, the one mission we set out to do in true 91st Bomb Group dress code was a good one, with lots of help from several other squads. <S>
I'm holding out hope that there will be others interested in realistic bomber/escort action. Everyone involved tonight reportedly had lots of fun.
Same time, same station, next squad night.
-
I'll be there :aok
-
With the help of one of our future squadmates (I promise I'll get to you ;)), we will have a new website location coming soon. Will advise when he is ready.
Also, welcome to the 91st, IFooped. <S>.
-
New website is uploading at the moment. It's going to take a few hours for the subdomain to propagate through the DNS servers.. I hope it will be up soon
-
For those that want to have a sneak peek at the new website please is it. Please leave some feedback. 91stBG(h) temp design (http://www.darkhillstudios.com/David/)

WOW I like it :)
-
David you are truly a expert at what you do my Friend. :x
I love it. :aok
-
Thanks man, I still have to further tweak the forum colors so that they are easier to read. the only hard thing is the acutal site graphics. They are very hard to color match with out forcing every table in the forums css to load an image.. (not good for loading times)....
-
Your efforts are appreciated, Ciaphas. I attempted to fly with you guys tonight, but again, Redneck DSL (Qwest) booted me off another B17 sortie. Just as well, I guess. Really, really tired from all this funeral stuff. Hap, congrats bud, you are the X.O. I'll be back in the saddle soon.
-
No worries man.

Hope in the near future we can toss our 38s over you guys heads for some top cover.

Nice sight thus far!!

thanks man. I've got around 32 hours invested in to it. :aok
-
Ohhhh believe me... You'll have more :)
Good luck with the squad. I wish you guys all the best.
-
I spend a lot of time managing websites. I have three active ones besides this one. It's all about balancing yer time :aok
-
Nice job, Ciaphas. I'll get on the horn to the rest of the squad when I see them to register.
EDIT: New website now updated in sig.
-
Nice site sir, need to put a lot of time into it to make the outcome good...I've learned this myself through the years. Nice job on it!
-
Thanks spikes. I have a few css color issues to work through. No show stoppers though.
-
[rant]
One of these years, it would be nice if Malheur %^&*! Bell and Qwest would get thier collective butts out here to track down my DSL disco issues. Thier sites suck because I have ping plots as evidence, but have found no way to e-mail pics to them. Love thier complaint tickets. Wrong place to rant, I guess.
It simply would be nice to go on ONE bomber sortie without getting booted.[/rant]
-
I would kick them in the junk :furious
Actually, call them up and be stern. do not take No for an answer. ping the heck out of their ticket server until you get an answer. You can also have a tech come out to your house and then you can show the toad what is actually happening. Based on your location i would have to say that a repeater is either out or failing or you have squirrel damage somewhere along your line. What they may have to do is install a repeater at your house and then chase it from there.
I had this problem with RoadRunner when I lived in South Carolina.
-
It's a good thing tomorrow is Monday, because I'm gonna thump a desk at the phone company concerning this "dry-land" DSL.
Anyway, we are still looking for members who love to bring out the heavy stuff and/or escort. I'm hoping to gain enough P47/P51 enthusiasts to expand on the incorporated 354th Fighter Group, therefore providing the 91st with our own self-sufficient top cover. <S>
-
see ya'll when I get back from NY! :aok
:salute
-
We'll be here, bud. Have fun & be safe.

We're still on the lookout for those interested in high-alt heavy bomber operations and escorts. Our squad nights keep getting better with new recruits and support operations provided by other reputable squads. Contact me or hap1 for details.
-
Had a pleasure last night Egg! I recommend any pilot who wishes to participate in historical 8th raids and overall fantastic squadron then the 91st is for you! :aok

Lately, I've had a lot of requests from the younger-than-18 crowd to join this bomb group. I will state now: If you are younger than 18 years of age, you will be considered on an individual basis. Patience and maturity is a must for this kind of squad. If you are looking for instant action, this venue is not for you. If you have been observed (by others) badmouthing on any channel, you will NOT be considered.
Just thought I would get that out there. :)

We're still on the lookout for interested folks who love the heavy bomber aspect of Aces High. Our squad is growing slowly but surely, and the quality of sportsmanship from exsisting members is outstanding. We're in it for fun. There is a genuine appreciation for the realistic roll of the B17 Flying Fortress both in WW2 and Aces High. Aerial combat with opposing sides has always been fun. I've received many PM's from the opposition stating how much fun it was flying against us, dealing with volunteer escort squads, etc.
If you're one who's got the patience and interest for this sort of thing, give us a shout. :) www.91stbombgroup.net

Squad night is once again coming up tomorrow (Sat.), 7pm MDT. I'm encouraged that there is a continued interest from various folks, from avid bomber pilots to escort squads offering top cover. My XO, Hap1 comes up with some interesting and unusual missions, and I love bringing out the heavy stuff. Our vox is 191. We are looking to recruit an 11th member to our group.
Come join the fun! We will be dressed in our 91st best. See y'all Saturday night. :)

No worries, Hap. I've hit a little technological bump in the road myself. I have a video card on the way for my last upgrade to this ol' PC. Won't be on for a few days.

Thats sucks tomorrow's squad night, who are we going to escort :cry

I have a friend who is turning 21 tomorrow, needless to say I will be a bit to drunk to walk let alone play a game :D

Sorry to hear Hap - hope everything works out!

Thanks TT, but I have this on order: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4914257&SRCCODE=WEBLET03ORDER&cm_mmc=Email-_-WebletMain-_-WEBLET03ORDER-_-Deals
That, and my brother donated another stick of RAM he wasn't using. Will be the last upgrade.... and as Flayed builds me a new machine next spring, the wife and kids get this one. :uhoh
As soon as the new vid-card is installed, I'll be back in my B17 with y'all.
-
Coincidently enough, my mom was having computer issues as well. Thinking it was power supply, she and my brother went and got a new one- only to discover that was not the problem. Needing to beef up my power anyway, I bought her power supply. The video card is supposed to be here on the 5th. So, if all goes well I will be back in the game before next Saturday squad night (Aug. 8th)

Hey all... I'm still experimenting. The 1gig AGP (ATI Radeon HD4650) vid card did not work out well as I need a whole new platform to support it. No drivers we have found will work effectively with it. I can play AH in "Mario" mode if need be on my old ATI 9800. If it should be proven that this machine will have difficulty in missions and such, I may shell out more money on, say, a 512mb card, or I may have to hang up this account until next spring. I tried to upgrade, but I can only afford so much with a family (wife & three sons) to support on a piece-of-crap job/income. And, yes, I do mean $1,400 a month. ;)
We'll see how it goes.

Egg, am back in the saddle again. Got the simple "hap" player id back :)
Send me an invite plse. I wish there were a way to view skins prior to downloading. I don't want to autodownload the whole set. If anyone knows how, plse advise.

<Salute> to thndrEGG and the rest of the 91st BG for a great time tonight! It was fun escorting heavy B17s in P38s at 28K... Hehehehe. :devil
Anytime you need us, you just give us a hollar! :salute

Welcome to the squad!

I'll be checking in as often as I can if any other buff geeks are interested in joining the 91st. We're coming along slowly and surely with some quality folks. Or, if you choose, you can contact Coprhead about his newly-formed 355th FG "The Steeple Morden Strafers". They are closely associated with the 91st Bomb Group and also specialize in attack rolls using the P47 Thunderbolt and P51 Mustang.
Also, my appreciation goes out to all the volunteer squads that have taken the time to escort us. <<S>>

Some screenies from some of our recent sorties- most of them using the 91st core aircraft, the B17. On occasion, we borrow other rides for a fun time. :)

Welcome GEjr

When I try to view the squad website, it doesn't look right. I can't see all that's there. It's like 1/3 of my page is not viewable.
:(
-
Anyone else having this issue? It loads fine for me. Mention this to Ciaphas if you see him. I'm at a loss.
-
Was just on it, looks ok to me.
-
I'm not to sure why hap was having an issue with the site. All seems to be working well.
-
Welcome to the 91st, Tick. <S>
-
Hey Egg,
82nd is back to operational command. We'd like to resume our usual escort duties with the 91st sir. Give us a shout.

<S> 82nd!
-
Wow, it's been dead for a few days.. how is everyone?
-
Busy with work and tired when I get home. Still make it on most nights for at least one sortie- usually in my B17 because I'm pretty wiped out.
Glad to see we've been picking up a few more interested folks here & there, though. :)
-
It's Friday, and I'll be on tonight and this weekend, especially squad night (Saturday, 7pm MDT). Anyone with patience enough to ride along during the 91st's missions is welcome to tune in on Bish vox 191. We're in it for the fun, the comical (& occasionally alcoholic) B.S., and the action high in the sky.
Furthermore, if you would like to participate in fighter escort and attack, see this thread about Coprhead's 355th Fighter Group, the Steeple Morden Strafers: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,271840.0.html
His is a fighter group closely associated with the 91st Bomb Group, and looking for members with a keen interest in the P47 and P51.
<S>
-
82nd will be there Egg.
-
Finally! With cav back we may actually survive!
(No offense nick, I only kind of mean that :D)
-
Right on! Lookin' forward to some classic high alt fun. :)
-
The 91st is growing, slowly and surely. The team-oriented mindset of our members is outstanding. We continue to attract potential recruits with a desire for realism & immersion, an appreciation for the history of the real-life 91st Bomb Group, as well as friendship & fun. We hope to continue to see more interest in the future. <S>

Here's some notes from a 34k run from a 3.3k base. Regular 17 loadout.
Took 1 hr from weels up to touchdown. She picks up speed even after climb # = 0 from 278 to 282. Salvo 3 nailed 2 hgrs. @34k climb rate = 200ft/min.

The "Ragged Irregulars" welcomes Sniper to the squad. <S>

glad to see you continue to bring more guys in EGG, will make your high alt bomb runs that much more fun. :aok

A screenie after we brought our ol' reliables home from a 20K sortie in Rookland. Coprhead and Twintail of the 355th FG in front.

Thanks for the screenies. I was dumb and deleted the dang film I had.
Oh, well. That was one of the best runs we've done, and a lot of fun it was! :aok

Nice run last night egg. We enjoyed your missions. Your plan came together well. Don't think you know how much (pull) you have as a mission leader.. salute Sir :salute
-
Thanks Tuk, although, trust me when I say I'll find a way to screw up some time, lol! I'll end up doing one of those "Hillside Specials" off the end of the runway. (Betty knows what I'm talking about.) :D
-
There's still room, folks! If you're a true Flying Fortress nut like the rest of us, check out the 91st BG, "The Ragged Irregulars". Yes, it takes patience to fly this aspect of Aces High, but there are still fights and fun to be had, even at 20,000ft (or thereabouts). Stop by, check us out. We're not overly strict, but we do appreciate realism & fun. Vox is Bishop 191. www.91stbombgroup.net

Squad night is tonight, and I'll probably be late for this one. Barbeque with the family this evening. <S>
-
We are still actively recruiting. Anyone with a love for the B17 and it's realistic roll in heavy bombing operations is encouraged to consider this group. We stand at 13 active members. Our squad night is Saturday, 7pm (Mountain Time), where you will find the "Triangle 'A's" somewhere high in the skies. <<S>>

Great beginning to squad night guys! Was fun. Sorry I conked out. Did we keep them on the run?
