Title: crappy mic sound
Post by: Yeager on May 27, 2009, 12:29:29 AM
I needed to reformat and lost everything...reinstalled AH and have spent the last few days shaping everything back up to speed.

For some reason my mic playback quality sucks whereas before the reformat it used to sound crystal.  Everything is set the same as it used to be far as I can tell...Windows sound recorder, sound playback, plus 1db mic boost....realtek settings are the same.

what am I forgetting to do?

Perhaps the driver version isn't the same?

Do you have 16 bit/48K playback quality checked?

But it sounds to me like you have an old, or wrong, realtek driver. Go to control panel/systems/device manager/sound video controllers and tell us what driver version you have. Im using 6.0.1.5591 without any problems.

Thats one thing I haven't checked Rich.  Will do that, and get the the driver name when I get home.  Thanks.

you mean the acceleration?

Also, where do I find the option to set 16 bit/48K playback quality?

you mean the acceleration? -- Yes
Also, where do I find the option to set 16 bit/48K playback quality?- Not sure - depends on your sound playback setup i guess - is there an advanced tab - or properties tab that you can open up in your windows sound control window?

Are you using a customs sound pack?  If so, is it the same as before?  Personally, I quit using the sound packs because they put too much of a demand on my sound card and vox quality got bad.

Just a thought.
