I noticed on my XP gaming box that after I installed the latest Virtualbox (and the virtualbox network driver component that came with it) AH variance in delay started spiking like nuts.
After removing the driver everything was back to normal (flatline). Just FYI if you have network problems and Virtualbox installed.
